Passion of the Christ sequel

i loved Passion, but yea this is too far, if its a whole nother movie, fine, but to call it a sequel...Unless the whole cast comes back and mel gibson directs and its in Aramaic/latin then i'd call it a sequel

Could be a flop. I loved POTC but this movie was a success because it showed Jesus fulfilling his 'destiny--which is the core of the new testament. Any movie that follows the events after Jesus's resurrection is just trying to capitalize on the money the Passion made, especailly since Sony is one of the studios that didn't want to finance the original Passion in the first place.....

That's what I was going to say. One thing I love about the movie is that it was definitely, indisputably a "labor of love" and self-expression with fierce integrity on Mel Gibson's part.
Take that away and make it a game of math by way of "Whoah, look how much money that FIRST one made! Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
and it's pretty offensive.

I loved Passion of the Christ, but this movie sounds like a lame attempt to cash in. They should have made a movie about the apostle Paul if they wanted an un-official "sequel" to POTC. The truth is, Jesus didn't really do enough signifigant stuff during his brief return to earth to fill a 90 minute movie, so this is going to be just a lame "Look, it's Jesus!" affair. Sorry, but when you know that it's just a guy in a costume, you're going to need more than that to get people interested.

All this movie is is a lame attempt to cash in on someone else's labor of love that turned out to be very successful at the BO. Since Jesus isn't copywritten, Sony can do whatever the crap they want without fear of reprocussions, but still I think that this is a pretty shameless cash-in.

How do people even remember these long forgotten threads exist lol.

This is fantastic news. Really looking forward to this followup. TPOTC is the only Jesus film that comes close to depicting the physical affliction and straight up killing of Christ in how he actually suffered. I never really understood tge complaints people had about tge violence, what did they expect? In those times, crucifying people happened all the time; times back then were insanely grim but truth be told, all these pictures, paintings and story books with Christ being crucified looking like he's had a long day at the office at best has conditioned so many people to fail in understanding not just what the scriptures say about Christ's suffering and crucifixion but the degree to which people were punished in general back in those days.

I just watched yesterday Risen, which I believe has a similar theme. I thought it was well done.

How can they stretch the resurrection story out to feature film length? There wasn't a lot to it, Christ appeared to some of the disciples and a few other people and then ascended. Unless he includes some of the aftermath with the disciples working to establish the church and being persecuted, I'm not sure how this is going to be long enough for a movie.

Wasn't somebody going to make a movie about the apostle Paul?

What I want to see is a movie about Lucifer being flung out of heaven.

I'm willing to watch either way, but my preference is that Jim Caviezel returns to play Jesus.

Same way he stretched the single day of the crucifixion into a feature length film. He took his time and focused on some key moments and added a scene here and there.

There is plenty in the resurrection story to make up a whole film.

No way Gibson can get fund this by himself. Didn't he lose a lot of his money in the divorce? And if he couldn't get funding from companies ten years ago, no way it'll happen now.

The Rock as Christ after his resurrection.

I hope he includes rock monsters like Darren Aronofsky did in Noah.

I will look this up, but I've always wondered how the Passion fared for home video sales. I wouldn't think this one, even though it is a great movie, would be part of someone's library.

I mean...who can sit and watch this multiple times? Do families have movie nights and say, "Hey, let's pop in Passion of the Christ. I'll bring the popcorn and reese's."

There is a lot that happened in the Bible immediately after Jesus was crucified, during his death, and after the resurrection. It wasn't just a "hey guys I'm not dead anymore! Ok, see ya!" afternoon. Disciples running for their lives, Roman soldiers hunting for Jesus' body, more miracles and drama when he came back and hung out for 40 days, etc. And the Bible claims that Jesus went to Sheol after he died, which would be a pretty damn interesting thing to see (Gibson mentioned the possibility in an interview with Colbert). There is actually a TON of stuff there for a film.

I have it. I saw the movie in theaters once, and then a second time when it was released on DVD. Haven't watched it since. It's a horrific, wonderfully crafted film, but yeah, one that definitely doesn't need repeat viewings, though I know if some people who watch it during Easter.
