Patton Oswalt said this about this movie

NO, I HAVEN'T SEEN THE WATCHMEN...
...but I can't wait.

Can't you?

No, you can't. You're all going to go see it, you resentful nerd mafiosi. And you'll walk in rolling your eyes and you'll walk out whistling sadly through your teeth because the fuel of the Nerd Mafia is disappointment and exclusion.

Tell you what -- before you go and see THE WATCHMEN, plunk down and watch CATWOMAN, GHOST RIDER and DAREDEVIL. And use those seven hours (and don't pretend like you don't have seven free hours in your day) to get out all of your disgust and the-world-owes-me-my-daydreams-made-real attitude you strut around with.

Because Zack Snyder STEPPED UP, mother****ers. THE WATCHMEN was going to get made, one way or another. And instead of bleating on his Facebook status updates or Tweeting about how lovely the upcoming adaptation's going to be, he TOOK THE BULLET and tried to do it right. Yes, THE WATCHMEN should be a limited series on HBO and blah blah blah IT WAS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN THAT WAY. Zack delivered a 2 1/2 hour, honest attempt, and broke his rear end cranking out tons of free extras. Hell, he even animated The Tales of The Black Freighter for you chumps. Plus, he gave you a kick-rear end DAWN OF THE DEAD remake, plus 300, plus whatever else he's got coming down the pike. He's the best friend the Nerd Mafia's had since Joss Whedon and Brian Michael Bendis, so everyone please crack the tab on a frosty can of Go gently caress Yourself and go see the movie version of THE WATCHMEN.

And no, the movie will not have EVERY LITTLE ELEMENT FROM THE GRAPHIC NOVEL. That's why the graphic novel exists -- you can go read it after you see the movie. Adaptation. Parallel visions. When you adapt a book, you cut things out, combine and conflate, streamline and linger.

L.A. CONFIDENTIAL stands as the best Ellroy adaptation to date, and it throws away massive chunks of the novel's narrative. THE BLACK DAHLIA slavishly sticks to its source material and it's almost un-watchable.

I do not invite debate.

There. Got it off my chest. Sorry.

this is real ****..

Who is Patton Oswalt and why does he appear to be taking such joy in acting like an obnoxious, condescending TOOL?

he's pretty cool dude.. stand up comedian and has done a lot of small parts.. and is a huge nerd..

Ah. A stand-up comedian? Then i retract my statement. Taking joy in being an obnoxious, condescending tool is kind of a pre-requisite for the job.

At least, if you want to be any good.

Bendis? You have tons of Geek Gods to conjure and you bring up Bendis?

Come on, Patton!

Save VS Death!!!

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Yeah me too (two?).
Well, directors cut.

Nice to hear, but he was in Blade 3. That takes points away...

He is also the voice of Ratatouille. I'd be (moderately) interested in what he has to say after he's seen the movie, not before.

Bah. If somebody wants to complain about this movie on the internet all day, and then never even go to see it in the theater, then they're free to do that. I really don't care. I do recommend seeing it, though. If you're a fan of the comics, or even just the genre in general, and you're debating whether or not to bother checking it out for whatever reason, then I'd say go out to the theater and give it a look.

Patton is right , Snyder did really try to do right by the comic fan .

Yeah i agree. People need to stop *****ing and see the movie for what it is and not what they want it to be.

Good for Patton for sticking up for the movie. I love his stand up.

As for the people trashing this film... Good God, you're making me hate the fact that I used to read comic books. I've never seeing a superhero film that tried harder to stick to its source material and yet, half of the fanbase is still declaring it an atrocity. This goes beyond "perma-white" and "organic webshooters." This is just a bunch of pretentious know-it-alls who think that they would have done a better job, despite never going to film school, despite never taking an acting class, and despite never writing a script for anything in their lives. I understand that this isn't ALL of you, but it's a lot of you and you know it.

You can only put so much into a movie. Snyder crammed as much as he could into this and it still managed to flow. And the movie was already two and a half hours! How much more time did you want to add to this film? It's not like we got shafted with an 88 minute sh**fest.

Have no idea why, but it was annoying me everytime he said THE watchmen. If he's such a big fan surely he'd at least get the name right. Oh well

:applaud

Especially for what's in bold.

I love Patton also but its funny how these self proclaimed nerds that seem to know everything about all that is comic book nerdum but yet he claims he hasn't seen the movie yet.
The dude is in the industry, he probably had many opportunities to see it well before it was released.
Just like someone else said, his comments would hold more weight if they came after he saw the film.
