I can easily imagine Paul Bettany assuming the role of The Vision, and the transition would be easy because he is the voice of Jarvis.
He could be Ultron too... underneath the exoskeleton. But really, I think he should be The Vision...

Personally I'd like it if he were the real Jarvis and that the AI Tony uses was simply based on his personality. He could have been taking care of Tony's New York properties all this time while Tony was on the west coast for his first two films. It's not like Jarvis in the comics is as utterly indispensable to Tony as Alfred is to Batman and Jarvis has been more linked to the Avengers for the most part anyway.

I'm fine with him playing Vision in a potential sequel (or threequel)
Ultron? Not so much.

Him being given an actual "body" and becoming what is known as Vision is a pretty interesting way to do it, if Marvel don't use Pym.

We've been discussing this for ages. It's more "I want" than speculation. Does it really need it's own thread?

Is it? Because I think it is part speculating of how MS might approach Vision as a character, evolving from the JARVIS AI.
Bettany already being a cast member of the MCU opens some doors and there are some ways to develop that further, Vision being one option, but the most propable.

Hey, I'm one of the advocactors for this to happen. But, why does this need it's own thread when we have a general news and speculation thread? that place is going to dry up if every wild idea is turned into it's own thread.

And, yes, at this point this is a wild idea. Bettany says he likes working on these films because it's one day of work and a fat paycheck. That's all we know about his thoughts on Marvel Studios films. I would think you'd need just a bit more basis for an individual thread to be established. Cause if that's NOT the case can I get one for Namor since I think he's going to be hinted at again in this movie?

I won't stop you.
But there is a Namor thread already at the Marvel Films section so you might want to check that out before starting a new one...
But yeah, I guess this thread, if necessary, doesn't belong in the Avengers forum but maybe in either the Avengers Sequel or the Marvel Films forum.

This doesn't surprise me, because JARVIS isn't really a fully fledged character. But i think if you presented Bettany a script where JARVIS becomes Vision, becomes his own fully developed character, he show more actual interest in the role.

Actually... is JARVIS self aware? It's been already mentioned by some one else, but what if he did become self aware? He basically has unlimited access to Stark's tech. What if Marvel don't use Pym for the Ultron storyline, but Tony? His tech turns on him via Jarvis? The Ultron body could be an adapted IM armour.

Could be interesting. And no one could say that's unoriginal for the superhero genre or formulaic. The superheroes technology turns on them. It's like the supervillain version of HAL.

I believe this is supposed to happen if they can't find a way to fit Wright's Ant-Man into the MCU. Avengers:EMH also made Ultron a collaboration between Stark and Pym, so it is safe to say Marvel is thinking in this direction.
MCU-Stark is an expert on Artificial Intelligence anyway compared to Pym who is more an expert on a completely different scientific field.
It makes sense and I don't mind IF (and that is a big if) they can't get Pym into the MCU.

I've always assumed JARVIS is self-aware, because it shows every sign of being such. I mean, it even has a sense of humor. JARVIS would easily pass the Turing Test. Note also that even the lesser robots he's created are capable of readily interpreting his real language ( and gesture ) commands, and deciphering his intents even without commands.

That said, I don't want Tony creating Ultron. He doesn't deserve the negative karma.

I've sorta felt the same. Jarvis is certainly unique.
I do love its sense of humor too.

What makes you say that?
