Petition: "Warner Bros, we want Batman Forever Director's Cut!"

What we had was WBs Comerically friendly cut, if we had Schumacher's cut or the way schumacher would have done it if he wasn't told to do everything so WB could release toys and sell Happy Meals we'd probably get a movie darker than Returns.. Schumacher is a great director look at 8MM, Phoneboth, The Number 23, Lost Boys.. We'd deff get a good movie!

It wouldn't be very different, it wouldn't be much darker either. But it would have a stronger story, and that's the key point.

The first half of the film was completely edited. Joel wanted a darker film but WB forced him to make it campy. http://www.batman-on-film.com/opinion_scissorpuppy_forever.html

No, it wasn't, and no, they didn't. The article doesn't even say that.

The opening of the film is re-arranged, that's all.

Warner Bros wanted a lighter film than Batman Returns, and one that sold a lot of action figures. They never, ever asked for camp. They never asked for neon lights, nipples of the costumes, any of that.

The idea that the movie, and all Batman films, are supposed to be darker and therefore better is so idiotic. The point of the director's cut, should it be made, is to tell the story properly and throughly. It's still going to have neon light in it.

:up::up: Great post.

I'm one of the few of actually liked the neon lights in Forever. I mean, I loved the dark sense in Burton's films but I also thought the neon was cool to. I'm open to liking more than just one version of something.

:up: Excellent, we need more people like you around here.

I must agree. I like the neon lights, too, because in 'Batman Forever' they aren't as exagerated as in 'Batman & Robin'. They make this movie look like a comic book and I think that's what Joel Schumacher wanted. I also think that the cinematography of 'Batman Forever' is excellent. As for the script, the biggest problem I have with it is the way how Two-Face is written. He should have been a more dramatic. That's my main problem with the movie. But I'd love to see the whole movie with the Red Book storyline etc.

I'm working on an edit of Forever. Many have complained that Two-Face doesn't have two personalities. He does, but Tommy Lee-Jones doesn't do enough to distinguish them. I'm trying to come up with a way to make that more clear onscreen.
