Rise of the Silver Surfer PG Rating: DISCUSSION

Doubt it dude. I mean Star Wars (Phantom Menace & Attack of the Clones) is PG and that didn't prevent people from going.

It's just a rating, doubt you would see a "what the hell?" out of here. Outside of here, doubt people would care if or if not Doom rips somebody apart from their internal organs, cool scene- but, imo, that scene didn't make the movie, it was just a cool looking scene with not a lot of importance.

Only place you'd see people skeptical is DIE HARD 4. Which Fox made it R now according to new information. So, Yippie Ki Yay- John McClane is back.

Not only that but it seems to be 130 minutes...who knew Fox would release a long DH movie, I was expecting something in the 100 minute range.

People saw Star Wars because well...it's Star Wars. Highly well-known now.

And this murder scene I'm hearing about with Dr. Doom...if that's cut...:(

Actually, I'm not "against" it at all. For the subject matter that is FF, it's actually quite appropriate.

However, I also want this movie to succeed. Considering the critical and fan bashing of the first film I'd say a LOT is riding on this movie being a bit. That said, I know the mentality of many moviegoers, and my concern is that this rating combined with the shortened runtime may discourage jaded summer audiences. I mean, we have to admit, some people will assume that this rating equates a loss of cool factor--whether such assumptions are fair or not.

And it is people's perceptions of a product that influences them on whether to buy it, or leave it alone on the shelf (or in this case, the theatre).

Yeah, I have no experience with this, I have no idea how the college kids will think. Nevertheless I think that the film will gain more than it loses.

And people clamoring for more cussing so that it is realistic, I really don't know how to answer that. It is obvious that a lot of posters are not really familiar with the FF comic book.

I always knew the wolverine and Xmen darkness would make everyone think this is how comics and their movies should be like.

I really respect Tim Story on this part. Fantastic Four has always been set in the light family values mold of Stan and Jack.

That is why Civil War was such an assault on the classic marvel pathos.

I know we can't go back but FF is holding the line, in the movies at least.

LS if you want close it and archive it in the great debates thread, cause there really is not much more to be said.

'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' has reportedly earned a PG rating. As with the first film, 'FF2' is tracking as a family film with an emphasis on adventure over violence.

Based on the trailers and clips we've seen, the kid-friendly rating doesn't seem to indicate a lack of action in the film.

Then don't discuss it. Move on to a thread you want to be in...but don't come here and tell mods to close a thread other's are debating. Make your own choices not choices for others. There's a zillion threads I take no part in or I think are useless but I would never ask a mod to close it. Who am I to do that while others are debating?

I think these people want more blood and gore, point blank. The Silver Surfer attempting asphixiate Storm, batting away nuclear warheads like they're flies, and demolcurizing Doom(if it's still there) isn't enough for you?

If you want blood and gore go see Hostel 2. Should be plenty of empty seats for that one. LOL

I have to say something here......

I agree with everything you've said....

BUT I do not see this thread as "great debate" material why? because of this right here...

And people clamoring for more cussing so that it is realistic, I really don't know how to answer that. It is obvious that a lot of posters are not really familiar with the FF comic book.

That has got to be one of the most immature things I've read in a long time..... (and I mean the...."cussing makes it more real" portion of that HG...lol)I teach teenagers, talk with them, listen to their music, etc......and I'm sorry.....but if they read that line, and thought that another teenager said it........they would be embarrassed......

Too much immaturity in the thread for it to be considered a "great debate" thread......

I'm done........sorry........:o

^Well...seeing Heather Matarazzo get tortured in the nude should be more than enough summer family entertainment. :o

Back off of him.

I asked the users on page 20 if they thought this thread was ready for closure. He is talking to me...not you. :o

It's rated PG.

Get over it.

Move on with your life.

*leaves thread with Albafan and an empty bag of popcorn*

>^^<

MPAA.org has it listed as PG now, so there is nothing left to debate or speculate on at this point--this fact is now etched in stone. Closing.
