Wow....This is the first time I've heard about this!

5 out of 6 Star Wars movies were PG, so whats the big deal with FF2 being PG as well?
Because 3 of those 5 were from before the PG-13 rating was invented, and 2 of those 5 were examples of what this movie shouldn't be.

This might be a long shot but, does anyone else think they're trying to change the rating to PG-13 really quick, and that's the reason the official site, the MPAA website, and the tv spots continue to have no rating?

Hopefully.

Though this may sound immature, it is inherently a matter of street cred. Most of the highest grossing movies are PG-13 or PG movies predating PG-13. Why? Because people want to see intense action and have fun without all the gore and profanity in the R-rated films. PG makes people think of "Madagascar" and "Baby Geniuses" or even the Chronicles of Narnia but not a superhero movie.

I'm still seeing "Not Yet Rated" on the spots here. I never saw PG once, so what gives?

PG movies still have a lot of action in them. The majority of the Star Wars and some of the Harry Potter movies were PG and pretty good. Especially Prisoner of Abaskan which was dark and violent. Even Narnia had some amazing action and a lot of violence and that was PG.

I haven't see Sky Captain, but I heard it was actually disturbing, and lots of explosions, etc...for a PG rated film!

PG-13 movies contain drug use, some blood, some gore, violence, sensuality, minor nudity, minor cussing, no more than one F-word, and generally deal with more mature subject matter.

I haven't seen that in a Fantastic Four comic book. Any of you guys...???
Let me know. I'd be interested to see it.

Since the FF COMICS don't contain any of the above: why THE hell would the movies...????

Keep in mind that not all comic books follow the X-Men and Batman and Marvel Knights mode. Fantasic Four has ALWAYS been an all-ages adventure story....any of you who don't understand that haven't read the comic.

And now sorry go off-topic but people on other boards are talking about the runtime being confirmed to around 90 mintutes. Has that rumor actually been confirmed? I didn't see it anywhere on the front page.

^

Actually, I think we're pretty much done with reporting running times for Fox CBMs on our main page--especially after the fiasco with X3 and now FF2. Times....fluctuate too much in that category and we don't relish the idea of having egg on our faces here. ;)

So I wouldn't hold my breath for another note on running times on the front page.

I was extremely shocked that they ran the first runtime of the FF on the front page in the first place.....there was absolutely no source from the person that gave the info to the site......NONE.....

You're talking to a brick wall. LOL All very true and it's going in one ear and out the other.

^Speak for yourself.

anyone see "The Incredibles?"

as much as we might rip into it for being a Fantastic Four rip-off . . . it really did show what a Fantastic Four movie should be.

let's not forget who these comics were originally written for and who their audience should be. just because we're maturing doesn't mean the comics we read as kids should be.

I'll confess dropping it down a rating doesn't sit well with me, but they should have rated it PG from the jump so it doesn't seem like such a money grubbing maneuver.

If the first one was rated PG, I wouldn't mind the rating. Sequels to all movies should either keep the rating of the original, or go higher.

why? why should a movie keep the same righting or go higher? that seems like an odd rule to make. each movie needs to be judged by its own merits and rated accordingly.

Well said....

eh, just my opinion. Just how I think they should be. When I think Dr. Doom, PG-13 comes to mind.

Yeah but guys, let's be frank: Even FF1 was an extremely soft PG-13. If it weren't for Victor blowing a hole in Cecil's chest, it would've been PG.
