Rise of the Silver Surfer PG Rating: DISCUSSION

No it was the equivelent of PG then somewhere else which has a different system. Matt would know. Maybe it was Germany or something. I forgot.

PG = :down
PG-13 =

This is simply because PG-13 allows better "intense" action sequences, more mature dialogue, and more shots that may seem too adult to the child audience. Doctor Doom's darker qualities as well as some other scenes in the movie viewed as "dark"/mature may be sugared up.

Oh well, it isn't as drastic as...

...Live Free or Die Hard being PG-13 instead of R.

Again, before PG-13 was made.

Think of movies post-1984. Anything before is pre-PG-13. This goes for everyone using older examples.

Star Wars was PG...

All of the Star Wars were PG except the last one.....

1999 and 2002 are after 1984....right?

So, has anyone seen any TV spots today? I'm just wondering if anyone has seen the supposed PG.

The prequels apply, but not the original trilogy (the true masterpieces). I never discounted Episodes I and II, but Star Wars refers to what is now Episode IV, and that is an incorrect one.

According to today's tv spots, the film is still 'Not Yet Rated' and MPAA.org has no rating listed. Like someone said earlier in this thread, that site that lists the film as PG is a Canadian site, and Canada has a different ratings system. Apparently someone saw a commercial that said PG, but we're still getting 'not rated' with the latest spots (at least in the US), so I won't be surprised in FF2 gets the PG13 in the states. Could they get away with a PG? Yes, but there's no proof that will be the rating...yet.

[BLACKOUT]In the book, Doom kills the general...and it's a R-rated death. It's described graphic and pretty much sounds like a death scene only shown in R-rated flicks. However, books based on films are often different than the actual movie.[/BLACKOUT]

I like the 94 FF movie. It's PG. Only thing it needed was a bigger budget and different director imo. However..since the big budget FF was PG-13, the sequel should be too.

Even if it is mostly PG rated stuff I would still give it a PG-13 to cater to that crowd that just needs the moniker to deem it cool enough to watch.

i just watched the original, and aside from Doom killing the board member (and maybe the amorphous "intense action sequences"), nothing about it is PG-13. i don't think a PG rating necessarily means anything for ROTSS.

exactly, that's the only reason it would be necessary

It better be PG-13 or I'm really gonna be pissed! Common PG, I swear this is the evil doing of those damn channels like Nicholodeon.:cmad:

Work your magic Stan and give F4: ROTSS some dignaty.

Wait a second :ninja: If FF2 was officially rated PG, wouldn't Superhero Hype post something about it?

I know I and many others saw PG during a tv spot, but still.....seems odd to me....

Go to the first or second page of the thread and read planesonaasnake's post from screenit.com on why the first Fantastic Four was pretty much rated PG-13.

The violence, the darker scenes, the cussing, the sex jokes and the murders all made it PG-13.

I saw the PG tv spot too. I think it's a great move. If it's PG-13 it doesn't change anything for me either but why would they make tv spots that said PG then?

Every spot I've seen says "Not Yet Rated".

I even had a bigass ant crawling on my arm during a spot and before reacting I made sure to pay attention to the rating.:o

Then I killed the ant's ass.

Actually over here in the UK most of the star wars films were rated U which is the lowest rating you can get.

I still dont think this is is a big deal Spidey2 was a PG over here and look how violent that was!!

yeah, but i can see them butchering that scene. Not that I'm not excited for the movie, coz I am, but I think that scene will DEFINITELY be watered down.

Yeah, I'll be a little shocked if Tim actually shot that scene the way it's described in the book.
