Photoshop Help

I completely suck at Photoshop, so I need help.

Can someone tell me how to replace one color with another while keeping the original texture?

The help function is horrible and there aren't any basic tutorials that I can find.

I'm trying to turn the blue to purple without losing any of the clothing textures.

That said, here---

I assume that's close in mind to what you wanted. All you have to do is press CTRL+U to bring up your Hue/Saturation menu. From there, you can change whatever's in the drop down menu, or you can colourise the whole pic. If you only want to do it to a select area, just select the area and affect it like that. Example--

Okay, so how did you turn the blue to purple without making the gold a bright green?

Yeah, I edited the post above yours, but I'll repeat just in case. How did you turn the blue to purple without changing the gold or white? Everytime I try it either turns the gold a bright green or doesn't edit the blue enough.

You never want your saturation TOO high, because then it will start to show colours you didn't know were in the texture, much less the images. As for how I just changed the single colour, you can either select it above [kinda like I did with the block, except in this case you'd trace what you need to recolour instead of selecting it with a box or whatever], or you use the Drop Down menu in the Hue/Sat box. In the instance above, I changed Cyan [a form of blue] and blue.

Get Gimp. It's free (legally) and does most of what Photoshop does. If you're just doing hobby/personal stuff it's just as good.
