Here's a chance for all you (us, actually) Avengers fans. Come up with a team with 7 members who you think can take down the Morrison/Porter version of the JLA (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman & Martian Manhunter) that everyone believes can hand the Avengers their @$$. The only catch is that every member has to either have been a member of the Avengers or reservist.

I'll start it off:
Captain America
Thor
The Sentry
Iron Man
The Vision
Scarlet Witch
Photon

Next?

:wow: :wow: Impossible!

Uhm... Does House of M Scarlet Witch count?

This couldn't just go in the thread that is already running?

if HOM Scarlet witch counts, then Full powered ION counts, or Parallax Hal. Take your pick.

Makea team that beats the JLA, ill give you a team that can beat the Avengers. Round and round we go.

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Vision
Sentry
Binary
Hulk (since technically he was one of the founders)

Actually Iron Man would be milktoast to much of the JLA roster.

Tony has stood toe-to-toe with Thor, the Hulk and the Sentry. Stark can go the distance with most of the JLA roster.

No he can't really. His armor gives him practically no Superspeed which most of the JLA heavy hitters have. And Iron man is like what......Class 100 on a good day! Against the three members of the league who towed the entire earth together!

I'd go with

Sentry (Non ***** version)
Hulk
Ionic Wonder Man
Binary
Invisible Woman
King Thor
Scarlet Witch (The one from vol.3 if HoM Wanda doesnt count)

Its sad that you have to go kneel this low just to prove a stupid fanboy point. Why can't we interchange the league?

The OP should have been a bit more specific. HoM Wanda, Binary and King Thor have never been in Avengers, so do they count? Sentry has only been in New Avengers; does he count?

Because in that case... Wolverine :woot:

Dude, what's your problem. I'm just havin' some fun, talkin' to people who love comics. Relax man. I'm using the Morrison/Porter league, because when I talk to people about JLA vs Avengers, they always seem to bring up that roster. Can you think of a better in-continuity roster than those 7? Besides, I happen to like that team.

Just people who have been in either the Avengers, Avengers West Coast, New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, etc...

OK, but are we allowed to use the most powerful incarnations of the characters, even if they haven't been in the roster of Avengers at the time of their peak power? For example, I think Binary was only a member of Starjammers while the Avenger version, Ms. Marvel / Warbird, is much weaker. And is JLA allowed to have Pre-Crisis/All-Star Superman or ION/Parallax?

Okay, how about this. It's the Morrison/Porter members of the JLA, but in their current incarnations. Example: Kyle Rayner was a member, but he's ION now. The Flash was a member, but it's Bart Allen since Wally is off the board. Etc, etc...

The members on your Avengers team must be their current incarnations. So you can't use King Thor or Binary, etc...

Well, in that case I don't think any roster of seven Avengers could do it. The Sentry would likely be their biggest card, but JLA has several equally or more powerful members (Supes, Flash, GL).

I can name like 3 or 4 members of the Avengers are as powerful or even moreso as any JLA member.

Wow, I feel like people have been conditioned to believe that DC characters are more powerful than Marvel's.

actually I tend to believe that DC keeps a better lid on the power levels than Marvel. You can't even name a character in Marvel who hasn't been nigh-omnpotent at one time in Marvel. Its one of the reasons why I left reading Marvel......there characters actually have practically no weaknesess. They all keep getting powered up for practically no reasons past there WRITTEN limits.

Don't get me wrong though I love a good power-up! But they just keep doing it to the wrong characters. Characters that need nothing else! And what do they lose.....nothing. Marvel has been heralded as the place with all the tragic heroes but I think DC has been doing the tragedy thing better in recent years. Whens the last time a mutant has been REALLY persecuted by the public.....the 90's?

That being said can people PLEASE make Cyclops a little stronger(and Gambit too). I'm starting to get tired of the constant need to make sure Wolverine is an Omega level mutant now. I'm also tired of every average joe being able to take on a full power Cyke blast to the face!

Actually, I feel like DC's pantheon's power level move up and down more than Marvel's. Look at the Flash. At the speed he's supposed to be moving now he should have ran off the damn earth into space. Superman too. One minute, he's struggling to hold up a building, the next he's movin' the moon for a better view. Seriously, I really think DC needs to hire some editors, cause someone's gotta watch out for that.

But you are confusing different era's. Supes doesn't really struggle with anything less than a mountain these days while late 80's and early 90's Supes would have trouble with planes and pass out if anywhere near light speed. It could be explained as his body adapting and using Solar energy better than he used to making him stronger. At least there is some reaosning rather than he's just a popular character......like Marvel tends to do.

As for the Flash he is a bit more easy to explain. Since his powers come from extra dimension which is the Source of nearly all super speed that gives its avatars the ability to easily overide physics with its own set of laws. I remeber when the Flash couldn't touch Mach 2 (thats the Flash I knew and grew up with) but even then I knew he NEEDED to be faster!

The thing is DC tries to overcompensate Plvls to thanks to the ridiculousness of their silver age characters powers. Marvel has never massively underpowered any of there heroes except fo mutants who are infamous for their powers sliding back and forth.

Well if your talking current incarnations, then Thor went out as Rune Thor, and thats as current as he is. Since we have no idea how powerful he is in the upcoming title or know anything about him practically.

Id go with:
Sentry (on a good day)
Thor
Ares
Captain America
Black Panther
Scarlet Witch (her current incarnation)
Spider-Man

Agree wholeheartedly! In Whedon's run alone, Kitty (while corporeal) has been hit several times by Cyke's optic blast and she just says "oof" and keeps going. :whatever: There was a time when even the slightest and shortest beam was said to kill a normal human.
