Police Corruption Thread

I have the option of living in Texas or Florida... I'm just screwed over.

Come to Canada. It's colder most of the time but we're friendlier.

I would love to live in Canada so much.

Some day.

Wow I'm so glad we have cowards who tase and shoot 95 year old men in walkers and kill baby deer to protect us....except imagine the panic attacks they'd have if they ever had to confront an armed suspect??

Heh, love the story how a couple of weeks after the Sandy Hook shooting, there was some deranged man that showed up at some day care, and he said he has come to take the children to see god. Sure, they called 911 immediately, but they didn't show up until 45 minutes later, after the parents of the children came and wrestled the man to the ground. And when the media asked the head sheriff (who keeps mysteriously getting elected every term despite the mass disproval of his job status) claims that the police department was in the middle of a shift change.

I hope the lawsuit/settlement is big so this never happens again.

The Wisconsin DNR claimed that it had to seize and kill the deer because state law prohibits private ownership of wild animals and deer carry diseases. Licensed shelters are allowed to keep deer on their premises if they have the proper permits, however. They could easily have contacted the shelter and worked with the staff to either surrender the deer voluntarily, allowed the staff to send it to Illinios as planned or gotten them the proper permits. Instead of handling it in a rational manner, the DNR decided to conduct covert surveillance and then raid the place with more than a dozen heavily armed officers.

Sounds like a similar story here, in Florida nonetheless. Several years ago, out in the country side, there is this crazy retired actor that had large cats for pets. One was a tiger, that his cleaning lady accidentally forgot to latch the gate all the way, and he got out. Now, not too far from this area, we have a huge wildlife sanctuary called Lion Country Safari, and they offered to send in their wild cat experts to cull the area and use their tranquelizers to knock the cat out. Now this would have been the logical thing to do, let the experts take care of it. But no, the county sheriff decided they would handle things with their deputies. In the end, the search went on for days, and ended up with a scared ass deputy killing the sleeping tiger, and causing a huge uproar within the community.

Cops should not have half the power they have and should have rubber bullets. PERIOD. Cops should not be deciding who lives and dies. In only extreme cases where swat is called should cops have real bullets to take down violent threats.

Um no. While I do some police out.there take the power way too far. Rubber bullets, no just no. No police officer has the accuracy needed for a rubber bullet to do anything effect, not too mention crime would start to run rampant. They're given tasers and they use them a lot more than guns. This is a problem with cops feeling more powerful than they are. There needs to be something done about that because it seems to be a growing problem.

Crime would run rampant because of rubber bullets? Doubtful. People commit crimes because they're are bad people. Bad people will be bad people. Good people good. It doesn't matter if cops have guns, rubber bullets, or batons and shields. People who want to commit a crime will commit a crime. Too many people get caught up with bad cops. Maybe I just don't trust the law, but cops should not be carrying guns. What if a cop is having an awful day, I mean terrible depressing day, you really want them to carry a loaded weapon? No one needs a weapon.

They need a weapon because the bad people you've mentioned also have them and in some cases (many depending where it is) they have many more and far more powerful weapons than the police.

We need better IA in our departments. Someone I once knew said in High School there was a dirty cop who sold the drugs he busted off of people to the kids in her school. He had been reported anonymously several times but nothing was done as they said someone needed to come forward.

How would that of prevented these women from being fisted on the side of the highway?

Sadly, Detroit seems to be trying to embrace it's Robocop future.

Well for one people wouldn't think the cop could take their life, if they wanted with bullets, bullets.

Hey, are most of the guys like Benton Fraser of Due South? I just might be enticed to move there if they are.

I actually met a few, in New York. Not too far from the Canadian border. They were on vacation at one of national parks up there, and actually brought their horses with them. I was camping with my dad at the time, and we saw them and he stopped so I can pet the horses. That was when I was introduced them as Canadian mounties. And they were so nice. I was about 9 or 10, but one of them saddled up his horse, and let me ride it for a bit. I remember his name was John, and his buddy was named Cody, and the two horses they had were Jasper and Friday. Since then, I was hooked on Canadian mounties. Me, a southerner!

The take away with this to me is if you plan to commit a crime in his district, wait until the shift change to do so.

I've met a few too.

Mostly because they're the local police force...
