I just got done watching "And the Band Played On". It's the CDC's true fight to try and get research and awareness to the public when the AIDS virus was first starting to show up in the USA, and they were pretty much stonewalled in the beginning because of politics, red tape, potential law suits and what not. There was even mention how France and a doctor from the US were fighting over the disease because the American dr was more concerned about glory than about the science. And then even more alarming for me, while they investigated the blood transfusions that were contaminated, only because a wealthy woman got the disease via transfusion, they also mentioned there was an outbreak among the heterosexual Haitain population in Miami, but nothing was researched about how they were getting the virus.
Doesn't stuff like this infuriate any of you, that a health epidemic might be breaking out, but because of politics or even PC correctness, the powers that be do nothing to stop it.......
