Actually I was referring to Batman viewing a lit up Gotham at night. As clearly depicted in my post if you look again. The Sage said:I'd argue we've seen the Bermejo one a bit, since Bale does remind me of his Batman, particularly the picture of him crouching. Plus his Bruce Wayne looks like Bale too.

...did anyone else chuckle at this? ROTFLMAO.The Sage said:Before anyone yells realism, parts of Washington D.C. and NYC is lit darker.
I mean, yeah, goons are dumb, but they're THAT stupid. The dock scene and the scene where Batman hides while Crane plans to set fire to the teddy bears.Anita18 said:...did anyone else chuckle at this? ROTFLMAO.
I had no qualms about how BB was lit. Most of the time he was backlit, so you could see him, but you couldn't really make out anything besides a dark form slightly resembling a man in a cowl and cape.

I'd say all the locales besides Gotham looked amazing. Basically the first half with the icy landscape. It looked beautiful. The only time I was impressed with Gotham is that short segment with Batman high above a tower looking out at Gotham in the midst of sunrise. I want to see more of that from Nolan.I thought the cinematography was gorgeous, and one of the best things about BB.
I admit, it looked unique. No current films really have used the golden hue for cinematography. To my knowledge, Blade Runner and the Godfather trilogy are the only familiar ones.Fenrir said:I thought Gotham, or particularly the Narrows, was excellent. Very Blade Runner-ish look.![]()

Nonetheless, I think Nolan should either darken up the gold, or go with a different tone. As is, even the night scenes looked bright, which was very weird to me in Batman film.
Maybe not with this franchise, but I'd like to see a director take a shot at a more muted color pallette, to really display Gotham as this dark hellhole.
