ok so after a busy few weeks i'm finally able to sit down and do some catch up with my shows, one of which was this one. i just finished binging eps 1-3, and i must say this is one WEIRD show.
but i LIKE it t:
its funny but not in the traditional (almost predictable) sense, also i like the superhero angle to this in the most non-typical way, its like Jonah Hex and Professor Xavier had a baby and was mentored by Batman-- that became Preacher. t: (yeah i know thats not how his abilities came about, but from the character-building perspective thats kinda how it is)
I'm loving this show so far, but i'm not sure how I feel about them making the Sheriff a thousand times less of an asshat and Tulip a thousand times more of a ***** . I do like this version of Tulip, though. Ruth Negga has a charm of her own.
I find that the show is starting to lose steam. It had an interesting pilot but the storylines aren't that intriguing. I know they're going for slow burn storytelling like they did in Breaking Bad with the introductions of The Saint of Killers and Herr Star but those come of as fan service instead of a narrative device.
With that said, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy is a riot though. He's the only reason I'm still tuning in at this point.
Has Jesse always been as mopey as Dominic Cooper portrays him? I remember him being angsty and constantly pissed off in the graphic novels (I can't exactly remember since last time I read the graphic novels was 2010)
I like the show but it definitely has a Walking Dead problem of slow as hell pacing that takes too long to progress. It hasn't put me off but it does kind of bore at times.
Loved it. Every episode. Read the comics years ago. Original, funny, weird and off the wall. Just the way it should have been. Can't wait for season two.
