I'm not sure how many years ago the President Lex story happened, but there is a "President Lex" TPB that chronicles him coming to power. It's good if you can find it.
And Batwoman 101...She is Kathy Kane...she's a lesbian...and technicallly she hasn't started being Batwoman yet...she makes her debut later in the "52" series.
Lex became the 43rd president of the United States in 2000, winning the election on a platform of promoting technological progress (his first action as president was to take a proposed moratorium on fossil-based fuels to U.S. Congress in hopes of putting "a flying car in every garage").
He came in during one of Superman's Secret Files and Origins issues after some shadowy guys (Checkmate) tried to make Pete Ross their puppet. Ross resigned and the last page of the short story has Horne entering the Oval Office and the same shadow figure welcoming him to the new position.
Weird, considering he then turned around and shuffled Checkmate around after Max Lord was killed. Looks like the shadowy figure was probably Max Lord, given that no one else at Checkmate seemed to have any power over him.
What I don't like actually about Marvel is that in Squadren Supreme the President is George W. Bush - I feel using the likeness of a real president in a comic limits what you can do with the character where with a fictional President he can be as much of a puppet, a warlord or a hero as you want him to be - and not offended or kick up a political arguement.
I doubt anything in comics is going to kick up a serious political argument. Look at Millar and Ennis. They've been writing ultra-left wing comics for years and all it gets from anyone is a passing, "Eh, they need to get off their soapbox."
