Comics Preview for ASM #642

That's pretty awesome to see a preview for this already.

I certainly wouldn't call Paul Azaceta awful but I can see why his style wouldn't grab a lot of others. He's a regular collaborator of Mark Waid over on his BOOM Studios stuff so I like the chemistry that Mark and Paul have. This definitely looks extremely interesting.

Personally I think Azaceta's art style doesn't mesh well with Spidey. But according to the cover Marcos Martin is being credited on doing some of the art, so that's a plus. I've been loving his art on ASM. Same goes for Paolo Rivera and Chris Bachalo. :hyper:

Wow, that art is god-awful for a Spidey book...

What? The artist is Paul Azaceta. He did the Power to the People arc. I thought people loved that story. He also did the Vulture arc.

For what it's worth, I like his art style. Not everything has to be pretty to look good.

I'm with you, mre. I like his style. I don't think every artist has to be "beautiful."

Hey, I think his art is fine. For an indie book or something... it's still awful for a Spidey book.

No, he's just doing the Spidey Sundays with Stan Lee. I think it runs for 12 issues.

Don't get me wrong, I like his art but not in a Spider-Man book.

Oh yeah that right. I completely forgot about that lol, oh well :oldrazz:

The art is not bad for the villains pages, but the others...

In another thread, stillanerd said he couldn't tell it was Betty. Forget that! That was Peter?

Personally am a bit of a fan of Paul's art. It's better than a lot that I've seen. Looking forward to this.

Is that in current continuity?
If so, why does the Lizard look like he used to?
I really hate the rotating art teams...
They don't stick to what the one before has done...

Yes, it's in current continuity
Lizard looks different because it's Azaceta and not Bachalo
I love the rotating art teams
It's not supposed to be like the one before

Exactly. I'm looking forward to the story, overall I like Mark Waid, but this art shouldn't be in ASM. I didn't like it for the other two arcs either although maybe the inks were better than what I'm seeing here. The Betty and Peter scenes are repulsive to me.

Mr. Negative doesn't strike me as someone you could easily summon either. Dude's already well connected. Having him present there with the rest seemed a little off to me.

So, then, the updated look and the story that went with it is just thrown out cause this artist doesn't wanna do it that way?
That's BS....

That's not what I said but sure believe what you want.

Maybe the artist didn't have something to go by seeing as some of these stories are drawn at the same time...

Or maybe it doesn't really matter in the least.
