Pride and Predjudice and Zombies is a go.

Since I haven't read the book, it looks like they are adding in a lot more material related to zombie attacks and what not.

I'm confused, are the zombies smart or something? It looks like they are also fighting with non-zombies here too?
From this clip, it seems like maybe recent zombies can still pass as living people:

If word of mouth and reviews are good, I'll check this out.

I'll be shocked if this gets above 70% on RT, but I'll still probably check it out as long as it's not, like, 20% or below, lol. But I just realized it comes out the same day as Hail Caesar, so this will have to wait a bit regardless, as that one definitely has priority for me.

if i recall,
they're not instantly zombies, they devolve into the state, some faster than others i think

and i'm definitely seeing some changes from the book in the clips i've seen, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. we shall see.

if this is successful, i wonder if they'll make his other book; Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters :awesome:

I saw it tonight, I went in cold. I never read the book and hadn't seen any trailers.

I actually liked it a lot. Matt Smith was absolutely hilarious and I'm not a Dr. Who fan. It was comedic and tense, not as bloody as I thought it would be. My friends weren't that in to it, she thought there were too many killings and I overheard her boyfriend ask if she was ready to go before the 3rd act.

nice to know it's not too bloody.

i could enjoy this more with less gore i think

My sister and I want to see this, I hope it's good.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, tzarinna. I'm not surprised to hear your friends didn't like it either. It sounds like one of those movies you'll either buy into the humor/tone of, or you won't.

There's also a little scene during the end credits, I usually like to sit and watch the end credits to the end but they were ready to roll. I'm not sure if there's just the one scene. :O

I know it's really weird to say considering the movie, but something that REALLY bugs me in clips/trailers is the fighting styles. It's far too anachronistic for me. The movie might be dumb fun, but it's gonna bother the hell out of me while watching, haha.

Pride and Prejudice is one of my wife's favorite films. I've seen 4 interpretations of it so far.

I'm hoping this will become my new favorite one.

Well I don't know if it will help, but they apparently do provide backstory for the Asian-style fighting, lol.

Well the reviews for this are right around what I expected. Mainstream critics for the most part aren't feelin' it but a lot of blog/geek critics (including one of my most trusted, Drew McWeeny) are enjoying it. Also interesting that even the more negative reviews have praise for the cast. Might do a double feature of this and Hail, Caesar this weekend.

I loved it, it was really good in just about every aspect. Only down fall in the film for me is not seeing enough of the aggressive zombies and maybe needing just a tad bit more gore. But 8/10. Would love a sequel if they could make it just as good as this one.

Objectively speaking, I can see this movie was a majorly mixed bag. It strikes the perfect tone in the first hour or so, casually inserting the zombie apocalypse element into the narrative structure and classic scenes of Pride and Prejudice in various cheeky and clever ways. But then it starts to get ambitious with the zombie plot ([blackout]what was the point of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse thing???[/blackout]) and take itself too seriously, and it all starts to go downhill. Its limited budget also really started to show there toward the final act.

That said, I had a blast with it anyway. My only complaint was Sam Riley as Darcy. Is his voice always like that, or was he doing that for the character? It was just kinda weird. Other than that, though, the actors were absolutely perfect, especially Matt Smith and Lily James, and as a HUGE fan of P&P, it was just always fun watching them warp the story to this kooky premise. Would watch again.

Yeah, it had a satirical take for a while there which worked but as said it delved into serious too much later.

Well like everyone else has already stated its really good in the beginning then loses its way in the middle with a final battle that's a bit disappointing.

I saw this last night and really liked so did my wife who's a huge P&P fan, mainly the Colin Firth one.

It was entertaining but I do agree that Sam Riley's was a little distracting. It reminded me of John Hurt's voice.

Just saw this yesterday. I enjoyed it. However, I felt that it was rushed from the pacing to the rushed line deliveries and it was heavily condensed resulting in no stakes and no intensity.

Matt Smith was a good Mr Collins and captured his annoying and idiotic character. Bella Heathcote was a beautiful Jane.

I didn't mind Sam's voice. And boy can Lily James kickass convincingly. She moves like a pro, so swiftly. Marvel or DC should cast her in a fighter role.

So how come the bluray still hasn't been released yet? Several websites have it stillon preorder for March 31, 2016. We're waaaaay past that? Anyone know what the deal is?

Nope. But I am sad that we wont be getting a sequel.

it comes out at the end of the month
