Objectively speaking, I can see this movie was a majorly mixed bag. It strikes the perfect tone in the first hour or so, casually inserting the zombie apocalypse element into the narrative structure and classic scenes of Pride and Prejudice in various cheeky and clever ways. But then it starts to get ambitious with the zombie plot ([blackout]what was the point of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse thing???[/blackout]) and take itself too seriously, and it all starts to go downhill. Its limited budget also really started to show there toward the final act.
That said, I had a blast with it anyway. My only complaint was Sam Riley as Darcy. Is his voice always like that, or was he doing that for the character? It was just kinda weird. Other than that, though, the actors were absolutely perfect, especially Matt Smith and Lily James, and as a HUGE fan of P&P, it was just always fun watching them warp the story to this kooky premise. Would watch again.
