I was just watching a repeat episode of an entertainment program on NDTV (New Delhi Television, it's a news program that has one half an hour show that comes on late at night that deals with all the party going ons of Bollywood, it's like their Access Hollywood) and on it was Priyanka Chopra hired as Brand Ambassador for Tag Heuer watches (covered here http://www.bollyvista.com/photogallery/s/72/2497/1).

One of the NDTV crew asked her about her upcoming films and what happen to her plans of doing some Hollywood offers she had one of which included Wonder Woman.

I wasn't able to catch all of her answer as it was hard to hear with all the other press around snapping and she spoke rather softly.

- She mentioned she wasn't allowed to talk about it much even though it's never going to happen since the director left the project.

- She was in serious enough discussions that she was working out in the gym doubly harder not just for her action oriented role in Don but also possibly for Wonder Woman just to get into the mind set.

- She said she would've loved to have done it, she mentioned the director was the same as the one who created Buffy and from what was explained to her, it had elements of that sort of humor along with some slight slap stick. The script had lots of "daring action" and that "all of them" (don't know who she's referring to) were looking at a "slightly darker..hmm no, blacker look" to alot of the clothing and designing of the film.

She couldn't talk about it anymore even if it has slipped through her hands and went on to talk about starring in Krrish 2, the sequel to the Indian blockbuster Superhero movie that came out in summer 06.

ok thought this would be interesting... guess I shoud've put it in one of the other WW threads... my bad

Um... it's kind of late so there's really no one around to reply anyway.

I do find this kind of suspicious though since Joss Wheddon had said that he never got to a point where they had looked at or even considered anyone for the role yet. It definitely won't be the first time an actress lied and said she was up for the role of WW.

she has mentioned in other interviews that she was definitely called up and talked to about it quite a lot...

the thing is, Priyanka herself is considered a "good girl" in the industry. She has no need to lie as she herself has said many a time that she's damn happy enough to be in bollywood as is. If she can't go beyond then that's totally cool with her, she's one of the most chilled out actresses globally, and thankfully doesn't have her head up her own ass like so many hollywood and bollywood actresses do.. in that way she's got a Zhang Zyii type mentality, just focus on your work and if you get noticed then great, if not then just push on...

this is interesting news, & everything she says about the movie is plausabile, the only thing is i doubt whedon was far along enough to start casting, & even if he was i doubt he'd pick chopra, seeing as shes sooo far from looking the part. maybe she met with them & they mentioned they were working on ww, but had no intention to cast her & she misunderstood.

i don't think ppl replied to this thread cuz they were tired of hearing chopra rumors.

yes but i heard this with my own ears and saw it with my own eyes... it's on NDTV which is a local station i get via satellite. but it's all good, i'm juust glad she gave some info on what the project sorta seemed like

I think I remember Whedon saying that they told him not to worry about casting and at times he would say that no one had been cast yet or that they wouldn't talk about casting (at least to the press) until the script was done. In a way these are true statements but do not necessarily imply that the process of casting was not underway. You do not necessarily need a completed script to perform casting (sometimes it is done with just a treatment) and the director does not necessarily need to be involved in any of the preliminary casting (I think that is the job of the casting director). Chopra could very well be telling the truth, but we will never know for sure (at least right now). One thing I can say for sure is that I had read last year that she was in New York/Boston around the time the rumors about her being in negotiations started.

if what she says is true which i do believe but you guys are right she could be lying, it's interesting how she talked a little bit about slap stick and like a bit of a darker look to the design of the film.. it seems that sort of what Joss would aim for anyways as he was completely making up a whole new villain right?

Here's a manip I did of her as Wonder Woman.
