Proof(D12) was shot Dead this morning...

But if you compare how many rappers that are killing each other compared with the death total of heavy metal, rock, pop, country, classical, jazz, and all other musical forms combined, rap still comes out on top.

Well yeah. It is a style that keeps on getting worse than better in my eyes....it has not changed. (Yeah yeah there are execptions like Will Smith or whoever!)

I used to like rap music but now I mostly hate it. Most of it is degrading to women and black people in general. I wish most of it would go away.

On another note: I thought that K-West was different but he turned out to be the same selfish bastard (I would put the N-word but some people might be offended) as the rest of em. I hope more and more of these idiots are killed, they are the last thing that black people need.

I have to agree, execpt for a few execptions this rap music culture has become corrupt.

As a black female I feel very strongly about this subject.

On both sides of the issue or do you actually have an opinion?

I sure am glad the day after Proof's death they had a benefit for him but not one for the Veteran he decided to shoot and kill. I guess that cash went to his ridiculous gold/bronze plated coffin.............I know he would care being able to see what the thing looked like.

I have no idea what you are saying, can you be a little clearer?

Death Metal? Look at all those norweigan rock bands who murder each other and worship satan? That crazy GG Alin guy? How about Dimebag Darrell, no rapper was killed on stage perfroming? Kurt Cobain? Dude damn killed himself.

Try harder, because you'll get beaten up on this subject like I was your little Nephew

Since you didn't actually state an opinion, other than saying that yours is a strong one, it could conceivably be on either side or both.

How many die per year?

Other than Dimebag or Cobain, I've never likely heard of any of them. However, I've heard of every one of those rappers. Death metal is also a dying form and will burn itself out at some point, but rapping is not going away anytime soon.

Rappers dont die every year either. On record we've had like 10 die from shootings in the last 10 years. 8 of those cases were being at a dangerous place at the wrong time (see Freaky Tah and Big L).

And yeah Hip Hop is big, and if your gonna talk about a big culture your talking about something that has non-violent acts and movements as well

Yet with Death Metal there is almost an even more geared culture towards killing and doing ****ed up **** for a decade or so. Your gonna dissmiss them? Nope there rockers too.

I wouldn't say that Death Metal bands are the one's doing it. It's more the Black Metal guys from Finlad and Norway, who've been doing it for damn near thirty years anyway. Of course, it doesn't happen any more or any less than a rapper getting shot. Come to think of it, I could name at least three or four guys from Nu-Metal bands or otherwise that have died in the past five years.

I stand correct it Black Metal. But my point is we dont blame the music in either case cause we know it aint the music but certain individuals and situations happen. My point is when people make sweeping generalisations and what not it's not really true.

Do not blame the music blame the culture.

You see what it's like when the tables are turned? But I dont have problem with it either way.

I blame the mentality of certain dudes in the hood NOT the whole Hip Hop culture because there's a lot of righteous vibes in there and relevant hip hop scholars who are conciouslly aware of the issues and implement discussions (Krs-One, Russell Simmons and Chuck D being key ambassadors of the Hip Hop culture).

Where does this mentality come from?

Living in poverty. Have you ever met a black dude from Philly, Detroit, Chicago, New York or LA?

Ok "War Lord dislikes hip-hop". Think that sums up the last 12 pages, let's move forward.

...and that's not even all of us. Myself and MANY others made it out of the city(NY for me) and are so far from the gangbanger mentality. It's the cats who feel that they have NO WAY OUT that get to actin' wild.

It's not likely poverty. A lack of father in most of these homes is a more likely cause. The typical male response, when growing up without an adequate father figure is either to become milquetoast or become a hyper male who responds aggressively to all situations.

He's backwards mentality when people like McCartney big up Hip Hop and groups like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against the Machine used Hip Hop funk in their music and Bjork was having the RZA as her executive producer and Jamaraquoi in the 90's used Hip Hop beats. What about the Gorillaz, they are produced by Hip Hop producers and have Hip Hop beats on there album are considered the most internationally creative and talented music acts in years, these guys arguments is null.

*Applause* Thank You, it's just a shame that the fans of these megastars on the other side of the fence can't come to the same realization. But as long as there are people, there will be ignorance.

Quite simply, Proof was the most talented guy in D12 and this is a shame. I've been all over AOL, MSN, Yahoo, BET, a crapload of other Forums speaking with fans of his music and the sentiment is the same. Super Ludacris, I salute you for holding it up on this end, despite the detractors.

R.I.P. Proof

It's also a shame that he had such a ridiculous name.

Yeah and 'KISS' is just so much more sensible? Or 'Smashing Pumpkins'? 'Limp Bizkit' now there's inspiration for ya! Get the **** out of here, if you're down to judging people by their titles then you've reallt run out of gas.
