I know this might be a bit controversial but I think we need to talk about it.
The X-men movies had Wolverine as a lead who let the audience connect with in order to experience the rest of the X-men.
Captain Kirk was the same sort of thing with the Star Trek reboot.
I would say all ensemble casts need someone to stand out in order to see the other characters as the audience will. Who do you think should be the protaganist?
For the sake of the argument, I'll pretend we'll just have a main protagainst for the first movie. I'll say Captain America since he has so far had the most attention regarding solo movies and also since he is the team leader, it would be a great chance to see each characters attributes and weakness as Steve sees them.
After the first movie, most people will get it and you can focus on everyone altogether.
