The Avengers Can The Avengers make more money than the X-Men movies at the box office?

Most out of the 3 X-Men movies made around $400+ million worldwide,so I'm wondering if it can beat that with it's roster and since many people by 2012 should get that it's a bunch of superheroes getting together as a team for the first time in a Marvel movie. It would really be a shame if many people by 2012 don't understand that The Avengers isn't just a team like the X-Men or Fantastic Four.

The X-Men movies haven't had a film that's made 300 million in the US. The Avengers will easily do this, especially since 2 of the films (that I consider) part of the same series have done that.

Sure. Even if it sucks, it'll make more money then the X-Men films.

Look at Spider-Man 3. Terrible movie. Made a buttload of money.

Now, if the Avengers is an amazing movie, we could be seeing numbers close to The Dark Knight, imo.
