Prototype

That review helps alot.

I know alot of people go to gamestop and take they're reviews seriously from GameSpot. I wouldn't be surprised if that inspires more people into buying the game this weekend. Hell, if I had the cash I'd go get it right now.

I picked this up a couple of nights ago. I haven't been able to really devote some serious time to it, but from what I've played it has been an absolute blast. Getting used to the controllers does take a bit of practice.

I love being able to just run like a maniac around the roof-tops. Once you start getting the speed, boost, and jump upgrades crossing the city becomes easier and easier. The little side challenges break up any monotony.

those disguise challenges can be a tough nut to crack

I usually tend to agree with IGN's reviews and after playing this game for most of the afternoon, Id have to agree again. If anything Id bump down the Gameplay score as Im finding the controls abit stiff and frustrating. I was surprised that the graphics were really as bad as they made it out to be. Not really having much fun with it. This is more of a rental

Not getting any problems with the mouse and keyboard.
Seems pretty good so far, love running up the walls and dropping off buildings.
Not liking the "hero" of the game much though seems kinda bland and looks generic.

So is the game worth 60 dollars? I was thinking about picking it up tomorrow

That'sc ause he's not supposed to be a Hero. he's just a guy( if you can call him that) that wants to know the truth about him self and he's a mean guy. He's just out for blood on why ever thing and every one is after him.

He doesn't give a damn about any body. which means you'll never catch saving any one. ever.

If you saw the links I put up on this and infamous i had put up about it in the early pages of this thread you'd know. there's no happy story with this guy cause he's not a good guy at all. Your not gonna like him in the sense your looking at him as.

He's too self centered for it.

I personally think its worth the 60 dollars

Pros
Its loads of fun. Running up walls, taking on the military, etc.. Take Spiderman 2: the Game and mix it with GTA and you pretty much get Prototype
Powers are really cool and fun
It should last a while. This is the game thats gonna hold until August and even later into the year when the bigger titles come out. It nvr ends I have been trying to clean the city even after I beat the story mode and I havent even come close. WHen you destroy these things called Hives, it turns back up not to long afterwards
The game is challenging even on Medium difficulty, but its not annoyingly hard

Cons
The graphics are very meh. Im surprised that it was released on NextGen with such subpar graphics
The enemies dont really change that often
The actual story of story mode is pretty one dimensional and the end of the story is kind of....bad

But all in all its a good game I would buy...I already did

they did work on this game for a long time. and they even pushed them selves back alot cause they said they wanted to make it better and they were still putting alot of idea's into it. but I'm guessing they were getting rid of major glitches and they just couldn't just keep pushing it back any more. It's still a good game. other wise it'll end up like duke nukem, with the publisers canceling them often over dead lines.

there are thing's that look like it was unfinished in the game as was said in the IGN's video review. But I'm sure they wanted to finish those, but they couldn't keep pushing back the dead line any further since they were trying to get ride of those glitches. It'll be something they'll have make up for the sequel. i'd say infamous is the better game. cause they gave you more options to play as Hero villain and grey if you can manage that.

And few other things, But you can tell the guys that made prototype were trying here. it's just they had issues with dead lines among other things. other wise this might have been a better game. better then infamous? hard to say. may be on par though if the manged to finish up. But other wise it's still a good game.

the plus here is unlike infamous this game was for all system including pc. that will net them more money. well depending I guess but it should.

The graphics look passible, wouldn't really call them bad when you consider it's an open world game with alot going on screen at once.

I'd give this game an 8/10.I have to take off for the unfinished look of the game.Yes this game is definitely like Hulk Ultimate Destruction except Alex is smaller and more agile.I love his agility,The glide ability is awesome as it kinda gives you a sense of being godlike. You can fly into action and take on nearly everyone,at least that's how I feel in the infected areas of the city.I find it a little crazy when i'm low on health and I have to consume a civilian or two to finish off my enemies but hey when you have powers like these you gotta have some fun right?

These game developers know what they're doing. They released a game that was somewhat unfinished to get people for a sequel.Imo it's not a shady move because why would anyone show all of their cards. If you can make the game good and add all of these elements:storyline, mysterious and interesting characters, fun and enjoyable gameplay, then most would be sold and will come back for more.Developers know what was left out or undone so I think they will continue the franchise

I agree with most of what you said and I hope there is a sequel, the game is a blast to play as was Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, which I still have and still play every once in a while!!!:D:up: The graphics are ok considering I think the city is actually to scale with the real thing, I'm not sure about central park, but the city itself I think I heard somewhere is to scale, so that's pretty damn big lol,:up: plus just the way Alex moves and the crazy amount of combos and powers he has, it's just fun!!!:D

So, how much like Ultimate Destruction is the game?

It's pretty much the same engine except modified obviously for this gen but the moves are show cased a bit differently for Alex and he's much more agile!!! Some moves like the elbow drop, the high jumps, the air dashes, the devastator moves, and the critical mass, which ironically was called just that in H:UD are pretty much the same with slight variations here and there, but it's a great game engine as I'm sure those who have played either game already know, it's a blast to play!!!:D:up:

Ok, I do like UD, but I always felt it was really fun but got old real fast. I'll probably just keep this one to a rental then. Thanks Guardian

This game is one of the most fun I've played in awhile. It's like really being Venom or Carnage with the exception of no webslinging so far. You can even do the spidey/venom/carnage climbing up walls.

Well, your choice I guess, I hope you enjoy it!!!:D:up:

Rented the game this afternoon.

I've spent the last half hour just grabbing people, carrying them up a huge building, throwing them off, and gliding after them.

It might be worth a buy somewhere down the road to finish up all of the collectables.

This game really seems like your playing as venom or carnage. Its pretty fun I'm no were near the end yet, I haven't had a lot of time to play it. I just finished the part were you protect dana's building.

Bought it, beat it twice, love it. Radical hits another homerun. Looking forward to what cheats they'll have instore for us. Not to mention what the special leg does.

The game has gotten considerably better since I've gotten most of the powers.

I just can't commit to doing any of the missions because I like gliding and free-roaming. And sneaking into the bases is fun too.

I totally agree Paradigm. As soon as I finished it, I immediately wanted to play again. There is loads of fun in this game, and awesome concepts to boot. I think theres room for improvement if they do a sequel, but this is a definite win, and a good achievement for Radical's first open world game NOT based on an existing franchise.

To be honest, my initial problem within the first hour of the game was I didn't feel drawn to Alex Mercer enough, or care enough about him so much, but when I finished, and with that ending movie, I really liked the direction he goes.... Had a great, Punisher/Wolverine/Jackie Estecado, tortured soul anti-hero feel to it. I want more! This game will totally fill the void before all the next batch of games comes out, and it will always please! Just levelling up your muscle mass so you can punch civillians into exploding, and then using your armour to just juggernaut through traffic makes itall worthwhile!
