ps2 live?

sorry if there's a thread about this before, but i've never been into the gaming section before.

i have a ps2, and i heard a long time ago that you can hook them up to your internet or something to play against other people all over.

i know for xbox, its called xbox live, but i dont know what its called in general or for ps2.

how do you do that and what do you need? since i finally got into gaming, i guess you could say, i thought it might be interesting.

there is no equivalent to Xbox live for the PS2. Each game that features online play has its own system of doing things. If you have an older PS2, you need to buy a network adapater to plug into the back of the system, and if you have a newer one, chances are its already included. After that all you need is an ethernet cord to stick in the back and run the online setup which saves to your memory card. You will then have to register a username and password for whichever game you want to use and you should get online with that

no an ethernet cord is not the same as a usb cable

As far as cost, online play for the PS2 is free. Thats one plus that it has over Xbox

yea but it sucks. ps3's is pretty good but its not as nicely done and organizied as the 360
