For maybe 2 years, my PS2 had stopped reading blue discs.
I know that it is a natural glitch for older PS2 models, but I am wondering if there is something that I can do to fix the damn glitch.

Any suggestions?

I have the same glitch. You tilt your PS2 either onto its side, or upside-down. The disc gets read. I have to do it every time I want to put Tekken Tag Tournament on.

Thank You.
I'll try that one out. :D

The process of opening the PS2 and cleaning the lens is extremely simple and works amazingly. I never did anything like that before, modding or whatever, but when i was about to sell my ps2 to get a 360, i decided what the hell and followed the online instructions to clean the lens. My ps2 wouldnt read anything at all, it always had problems with ps1 games (This was a launch ps2) but it pretty much wouldn't play anything. After i cleaned it and put it back together, it played everything perfectly. It worked better then it ever did before.

I know it sounds crazy to open it up and do this, but it's quick and easy and it works. :woot:

I had the samething and emailed Sony this is what I got back. Hope it can help you.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. The most effective way for us to
assist you is by speaking with you directly. Please call our Consumer Services Department at (800)
345-7669. Our representatives are available to assist you, Monday through Saturday 6:00 a.m. - 8:00
p.m., and Sunday 7:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Pacific Standard Time.

If you would like to attempt to troubleshoot this issue, we have included some helpful information
below:

The PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system has an auto-diagnosis feature that automatically
adjusts the settings to allow the best possible performance from the media (PlayStation(R)2 format
software and/or DVD movies) you are attempting to use. You may want to try the auto diagnosis
feature to update the settings when you experience difficulties playing the above mentioned media.
Please note that the auto diagnosis feature will not improve playback quality for the original
PlayStation(R) format software titles.

==================================
To use the auto diagnosis feature:
==================================
1) You must be in the "main menu" screen of the PlayStation 2 console

2) Highlight "Browser" and press the "triangle button"

3) Select "Console" using the up and down directional buttons and press the "Triangle" button

4) Press the "X" button and highlight "On" using the up and down directional buttons; press the "X"
button to confirm

5) Insert a disc. The console automatically starts the diagnosis

6) Press the "Circle" button two times to back out to the Browser Screen; highlight "Browser" and
press the "X" button. Once in the Browser, press the "X" button to load the game.

Please note: The diagnosis setting automatically returns to "Off" (default setting) when you press
the "Reset" button or start playing a PlayStation 2 format software title or DVD movie.

In addition, it is important to maintain your PlayStation 2 console by keeping the vents on the
console free of dust. Because dust can accumulate in the vents on both the front and rear panels of
the PlayStation 2 console, we recommend that you check the vents from time to time. After turning
off your console, and unplugging it from the electrical outlet, you may remove any accumulated dust
with the hose attachment of your vacuum cleaner or with a small handheld vacuum.

We also do not recommend the use of any type of lens cleaner. Doing so may actually cause more
problems for your PlayStation 2 console. Instead, we only recommend that you clean your PlayStation
and PlayStation 2 format software discs/DVD discs using lint-free "CD wipes" found at your local
software stores. When cleaning your discs, we recommend starting at the inside circle, and wiping
out to the edge in a straight line. We do not recommend wiping in a circle motion, as it may cause
scratches on the disc.

He's not talking about Blu-Ray discs. :p

He's talking about blue discs. Some PS2 games came on a blue disc rather than a black disc, and the games on blue discs tend to cause the most problems for some reason. I'm sure someone can explain the reasoning behind this, but I've no idea myself.

Most of the older PS2 consoles have a faulty laser inside, which causes them to burn out quicker. The blue discs take more to read than normal ones... so probably when using an old PS2 and a blue disc, it'll likely run like ****.

For me, the problem only ever lies with starting the game up. Getting the PS2 to initially recognise and read the blue disc. Once the disc has started up, there are no more problems. It's just that initial bit at the start where I have to tilt the PS2 around a little.

ohh blue disks, i thought you meant blu ray disks.

No prob.
I am glad that you weren't making fun of me.

It works.
I played a blue disc just by turning my PS2 upside down.
