PS3 loses Monster Hunter 3 to Wii

One of Nintendo's many bombshells last night had to be the announcement of Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii platform. However, it was unclear at the time whether or not the previously announced PS3 version would be affected.

According to Forbes, it appears that Capcom is abandoning the PS3 version altogether, making Wii the only platform for Monster Hunter 3. "Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title," Capcom managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii said. This statement comes just weeks after Capcom pledged increase support for Sony's next generation platform.

While the Monster Hunter franchise has a relatively small following in the States, it is a powerhouse franchise in Japan. The last iteration of the franchise, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd, sold over a million copies when it launched on PSP.

Monster Hunter is like 'under around 1 million sales per iteration' big, in Japan, so it's a pretty big deal in japan. Monster Hunter has always been the PSP killer app in Japan.

i do know the definition of bragging but i'm just trying to say that its kind of funny in a sureal way that someone would leave the powerful consle to go to the underpowered one. its just one of those haha thats funny sort of thing...like napoleon dynamite the move is not laugh out funny like a movie like friday but just the stupidity of the situations he's in is funny.........not the actual movie

and the last bit i was trying to say sony just last year you were kicking ass with the ps2 what could change so drastically in a year........i mean i like nintendo but im not that blind to see that sony has done things nintendo would never have the forsight to do.......but to each his own.

im starting to think that sarcasm just is too damn hard to get across the internet.

and come on you had to see the whole sony screwing up thing coming any way im starting to think that a consle maker gets two generations to be king and come round three you pretty much suck...

n64->nintendo what happened
ngc->nintendo's screwed
wii->hooray for nintendo

ps1->yeah sony
ps2->awesomes sony
ps3->uhh sony what's happening....

get it.........for handhelds and microsoft its a mixed bag
