Is there gonna be a Punch out game for Wii?

I am a huge Punch out Fan and I would love to see one, especially with the teck they got for it........the first one made me buy a Power Glove, I want a new PO game so bad.

Thanks

Other than the original Punch Out coming out on the virtual console, the only thing I can find is mention of a game called Boxing Action. But no informaiton about it other than the name.

I think Wii Boxing was their attempt at it. That said..... wii boxing sucks ass. If they do create a new Punch Out, and I do think the wii is a prime oppertunity to do so, I hope they study what worked and what didnt.

I really like Wii boxing. It has it's flaws, but once you get around those it's really fun.

I liked wii boxing when I first tried it, but each time I play it, the game just gets worse. The accuracy is really off in the game. You can really tell by the training parts. Its impossible to not hit your trainer.

Virtual Console......Explain

The virtual console is where you play classic games after you buy them. You go to the Wii store on your Wii, buy a game (NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, TurboGrafix 16), and can play it on your Wii.

SO can punch out be played on the Virtual Console with the Punchy Stick thing?

Also I thought the Wii was supposed to come with something like 250 free classic games built in....Whatever happened to that?

Probably not. You'd either play it with a gamecube(classic) controller, or for classic NES games you turn the Wiimote on its side (and use the 1 and 2 buttons as A and B buttons).

The plan was never to have those games installed on the Wii. The plan was to have those games availiable for purchase and play on the Wii (for between $5 and $10). And there will be a large number of classic games for the Wii. The plan is to have all (the good) games from the nes, snes, n64, genisis, and turbo16 available for purchase.

Currently I think they've got a couple of dozen games out, with a few more games being released each month.

Oh.....Well I wanna play Punch out with the Nunchuck thingie....that would rule.

Say.....will Shadows of the Empire be in this Virtual Console thingie?

I highly doubt that. Seems like a third party hassle, especially considering that so far, Goldeneye is the only N64 title that isnt first party that Nintendo seems interested in getting. Besides, even if they wanted it, it would probably be released in the final months of the wii.

I have all of them up on the sticked VC thread

This is an issue that is being hotly debated over at IGN.

Currently, I'm experiencing the same frustrations as you, but my friend is phenomenal. I guess I just need practice.

What really helped me was finding a page online where a couple of guys spent an hour practicing before the fight began (at the intro screen). They found that the punches don't mimic real punches (obviously), but listed moves that execute the various punches. (For example, to throw a hook, turn the controller towards the other hand, then snap it sideways.)

My boxing rating shot up a lot faster after reading their advice.

Boxing

Here is a list of control motions for Wii Boxing (from GameSpot Forums posting):

High Guard: Hold Wiimote and Nunchuck vertically, then tilt both controllers inward toward your body to cover face.

Mid Guard: Hold Wiimote and Nunchuck parallel to ground, then tilt both controllers inward if still not covering center of body.

Left Dodge: Hold Wiimote and Nunchuck vertically, then tilt both controllers to your left.

Right Dodge: Hold Wiimote and Nunchuck vertically, then tilt both controllers to your right.

Right High Jab: Hold Wiimote vertically, with controls facing yourself, and jerk it forward with the wrist. Helps to keep arm stationary, and just let the Wiimote fall forward.

Right Mid Jab: Hold Wiimote parallel to ground, and jerk downward. Again, keep arm stationary and just push Wiimote downward with wrist.

Right High Hook: Hold Wiimote vertically, with controls facing yourself, and rotate it quickly to the left, as in this (please forgive my ASCII art):

BEFORE:
____
D
A
1
2

AFTER:
___________
D A 1 2

Right Uppercut: Hold Wiimote parallel to ground, and then jerk upward. It’s the exact opposite movement from the Right Mid Jab.

Right Low Hook: Hold Wiimote parallel to ground, but turn it 90 degrees COUNTER-CLOCKWISE so that the face of the Wiimote is looking out to your left, then jerk it in the direction of the face of the controller. It’s exactly like the right uppercut, except the entire motion is rotated to the left 90 degrees.

Left High Jab: Hold Nunchuck up vertically so that the analog stick is facing you, and then jerk it forward. Just like Right High Jab.

Left Mid Jab: Hold Nunchuck parallel to ground, and jerk it downward. Just like the Right Mid Jab.

Left Uppercut: Hold Nunchuck parallel to ground, and jerk it upward. Just like Right Uppercut

Left Hook: Hold Nunchuck parallel to ground, but turn it 90 degrees CLOCKWISE so that the face of the controller is looking out to your right, then jerk it in direction of the face of controller. Basically just like the Right Mid Hook.

* Turn your Boxing Gloves Silver: After you’ve beaten the Grand Champion, Matt, in a boxing match you’ll be able to wear silver boxing gloves. To do so, hold (1) when the screen becomes black before a boxing match.
