So I've had my Bluray player for a few months now and all my BR's work fine but when it comes to putting a DVD the screen seems to shut off and back on, Im not talking about the power goes off I mean that I get a snow screen as if a coaxial cable is getting unplugged.

All the cables are in their proper place and untangled and my player is Panasonic, btw I also have a separate VHS/DVD combo player attached, maybe there's interference I wouldn't know since my BR discs all work fine.

What model is your BR? Have you updated it's Firmware? If the FW is up to date, than it is possible that the DVD Laser has failed. Put a CD in it and see if it plays. If it doesn't, then it is the DVD laser.

It's the same laser. They only have one diode. I have a feeling that it could be a Firmware issue.

To the OP, the DVD/VHS player would not cause interference because it's on a completely separate input than the Blu Ray player. Also, how do you have your player connected? HDMI or Component? You probably should check the settings of the player to see how it's upconverting your standard DVDs. Is your TV full 1080p? If not, then it's possible your player could be trying to upconvert standard DVDs to a resolution that your TV doesn't support.

It really could be any number of things, and it's kind of hard to troubleshoot over the internet. It's just one of those things that you have to play around with and try different things. I'll bet it works fine, but it's just a setting somewhere that's not set correctly or something.
