I just finished an Astronomy course at the college and something got me thinking. Uranus and Neptune are ice giants, as opposed to the gas giants we all know. My question is this if you dropped Bobby in a cold world where the majority of material is water ice and ammonia, could he in a sense grow powerful enough to defeat Galactus?

Galactus would probably just eat him.

Galactus relies on heat energy, couldnt he just freeze him to death from the inside?

Probably, but that wouldn't stop the Bobby fanboys from complaining he still hadn't reached his full potential... :woot:

I kid, I kid.

Galactus is cosmic being

Iceman while powerful is no match to Galactus

^ whos in the Av?

The difficulty with the question... Icemans powers are stated as being potentially limitless so that means if he reached his full potential then he should be able to good Galactus a good run for his money.

But the question is posed about him in his current state of powers. Yes in theory he could use up all the water and ice to become a huuuuge ice giant like hes done on a limited scale before....

But then He'd just be really big, rather than powerful, so Galactus would just give him a good kicking.

Now that Jeans technically Ascended though, shes more on the same level as these cosmic characters/entitys. Ive always thought it would be interesting to see some of her adventures on a cosmic/interdimensional level.

I think bobby on those planets would just allow him to grow to an immense size. He'd never be able to harm Galactus.

Thanks for all of the intelligent answers out there. I will admit I know hardly anything about Bobby since reading about he has the potential for limitless power as stated by Collossus estranged brother. But after doing a 5 page report on Uranus (yea I know, haha!) I thought about how cold outnumbers heat in the Universe (electrical super conductivity for one). Just growing really big is an understatement I believe because what is not really known about Uranus is that it gives off less energy then it receives. These worlds composed mostly of water ammonia methane and hydrogen compounds are literally like oversize car batteries. In science it seems there is so much more you can do with cold than heat. Aside from just growing big, couldn't he harness all of that power in the ice planet and at least give Galactus a run for his money? So I hear Galactus is cosmic powered, but in a sense we all are cosmic powered, we all come from the Sun, or the solar Nebula. Ok. Galactus can devour worlds, but Bobby wouldnt have to just stop at Uranus, he could absorb Neptune as well, and all the other objects in the Kuiper belt, and (dare I ask) couldnt he absorb the cold space between stars? Wouldnt that mess up Galactus? I never really cared about Bobby, only at some point of my life I imagined a young Steve Guttenberg playing him in movies, but, maybe Iceman really could be "the man." Btw, whats the pseudo science behind Galactus' powers? Can he devour Ice Worlds? Or just terrestrial planets? If just terrestrial planets than it would be interesting to see these 2 trade blows.

Does Bobby need to breathe when he's iced up? If so, absorbing those 2 planets wouldn't do him any good cuz he'd just suffocate. I'm not even sure if he can survive in space at all.

I thought about that too, but in a sense he would leave his human form and be at one with the planet. He could just materialize oxygen from the abundant hydrogen compunds in those worlds.

And so the question is raised: Is Iceman capable of separating the O's from H2O, and combining them into O2's?

I beleive he's living cold. Life can survive at extremes, maybe this would be the next step in mutant evolution.

Bobby does not need to breathe when iced up. at all. dude has been melted, obliterated and evaporated...and come back...his potential is limited only by his own imagination. in his iceform, Bobby is unkillable.....

thats why he's at omega level now. I'd like to see a major story arc that involves Bobby's great power as the central thesis. he could grow to a threat that would require the entire Marvel universe to stop.

I'm pretty sure Galactus can kill him

kk... shes holding a very.. umm 'inviting' pose :)

I asked her to pose that way ;)

Thor would be the first one there to take him out. He warned Iceman as much during an issue of X-Men First Class.

I love Thor don't get me wrong, but He's the God of Thunder, and lightning, and thunder is the effect of super heated air affected by the lightning beam. Couldnt Bobby just snap his fingers and zap away all the heat leaving Thor powerless? [edit] do you guys recommend any good story arcs with Bobby?

even without the weather powers, Thor isn't powerless.

You're thinking of "cold" as a thing. You can't absorb what isn't there. You can't absorb cold because it's just the absence of heat.

I am not so sure that he could. Defeat him, certainly. Kill him..not a chance

Iceman isn't in same league as a cosmic being no matter how unlimited his powers are, Galactus will win. Granted they have been cases when mutants or super power characters beaten cosmic beings but usually those are special reason that happen, some were weaken or some sort of trickily been done.
Iceman beat Big G? Not in my book, Marvel been going overboard with some BS heroes having more powers then they did years ago

Hmm, I think I need a more concise explanation of his power (Galactus) because rogue planets can travel throughout space starless yet mintain heating through radioactive decay, but that heat only has a half life of 4.5 billion years. So this just brings another debate on cold versus heat. I beleive that if heat were stronger the entire universe would be a star. But it's not, no matter how big Stars are, there is still immeasurable distances between them. COLD!!!!! Heat is energy, and so is cosmic power. I dunno, It still seems like a really good fight if they explored Bobby's power in depth. There is so much we don't know about the universe.
