Comics Question about Wolverine's claws

I was thinking the other day, the only way Wolvie could realistically pop his claws would be is his wrist was not bent at all, and his hand and forearm were completely in line. Otherwise, say if his hand was bent upwards, wouldn't his claws shoot through his palm? His claws are said to be 1 foot long so they are stored in his forearm, not his hand otherwise he wouldn't be able to bend his wrist. Has this ever been mentioned or addressed in the comics?

Yeah, ive thought about this a number of times, wolverine probably just knows by now he has to keep his hands straight so avoid feeling more pain than usual when they come out. I doubt it's ever been addressed in the comics.

Well, his claws are contained in his forearm, they spring all the way through his wrist and out his knucles, so he has to keep his wrist straight when he pulls them out, but before and afterwards it's fine. It's just during his withrawal of his claws...

Yeah, once they're popped there's no problem, this is why i prefer the knuckle claws wolverine to the back of the hand claw wolverine. It's more likely he would keep his wrist straight when popping instead of slightly angling his wrist to get them to come out the backs of his hands.
