Are the claws used by wolverine and others a cybernetic enhancement or a organic growth?
For cybernetic it could -be the necessary foot long, be stored, extended and retracted with electrical devices and be controlled by the users nervous system like modern prosthesis. also the parts would be easier to make and assemble this with healing factor it would be a operation that no one would know happened. Also like in the first movie where he retracts two of the claws and leaves one out would alos be possible.
For organic it could be a form of polydactyl which a person grows extra fingers and then fuse together to form "claws" whioch can then be dislocated and forced out of the hand. this would cause the person's hand to be twice the size of a average person and would also cause the growth of the arms to support the greater amount of wrist bones. extending and retraction would be more difficult and probably more painful. The size of the claws would be determined by the size of the person's palm and therefore not reach the neccessary length. It could be simply a continuous growth that comes from regions in the hand much like horns but retraction would become impossible. An ability like Marrow which grows bone reallyfast could grow the bone to the necessary length then when done could just fall off. Both of these meathods are impractical in terms of the plating with adamantium.
