I'm not gonna rank all 218 episodes. But here's my top 10.

ROSETTA
Smallville is about Clark Kent's origin. So naturally, any episode that focuses on his Kryptonian background and WHY he was sent to Earth is gonna be a big one. And if handled correctly, it's gonna stand out. Rosetta did that AND threw in Christopher Reeve.

INSURGENCE
Jeph Loeb is the best writer this series had. Let's just get that out of the way. And here was a guy that was never interested in the soap opera nonsense that the WB forced down on the show. Insurgence is everything you want from a superhero show.

LEGACY
Greg Beeman is the show's best director. Jeph Loeb is the show's best writer. Christopher Reeve is da man. This episode was a hit right out of the gate.

RED
Clark Kent under the influence of Red Kryptonite is nothing but joy to watch.

ONYX
The finest hour of Lex Luthor that this series provided.

ARROW
Next to Insurgence, this is the only episode of the series that FELT like a proper superhero series. It's just too bad that Clark Kent did none of the heroics.

COVENANT
This was the last time Lionel Luthor was a real badass.

JUSTICE
Everybody is choosing Absolute Jutice, which is fine, but I prefer Justice because it has the CLASSIC team. Granted, a few high profile members are missing.

RUN
The chemistry between Clark and Bart is un-matched. I enjoy the Green Arrow/Oliver Queen, but his friendship with Clark always felt forced. Clark and Bart seemed more natural and even brotherly.

VISAGE
Tina Greer (Lizzy Caplan) is a VERY underrated villain in this series. She was AMAZING and both episodes with her (X-Ray being the other) were extremely entertaining to watch.

Generally most my favorite episodes have one thing in common. Clark basically is happy and comes off proactive. In general I find the show fails when it tries to do bigger storylines and prefer more self contained ones
