Franchises;
Marvel - Always been a huge comic nerd and it's just been amazing seeing the characters on the big screen and seeing it as an actual world where these characters interact.

Star Wars - Loved the OT as a kid. The prequels stunk it up, but there's still magic in the OT.

Harry Potter - There were many missteps in this franchise as it went on. Focusing more on teen romance than the major points, Marauder's Map, origin of Voldemort/Horcruxes, a proper telling/explanation of the Prophecy, etc... This could've been a lot better with maybe 15-30 minutes of story/background added to each movie.

Middle Earth - The Lord of the Rings was great, especially the extended editions, but the Hobbit should've been one movie, if it was this franchise would've been number 3

Pirates - One good movie, three stinkers

Favorite Movie/Least Favorite;
Marvel Cap: Winter Soldier - Just an amazing movie that changed the entire landscape of the Universe.
Thor - Not a bad movie, but just a little weak. I enjoyed it, but the character just need better villains. I would've said The Dark World, but that introduced an infinity stone.

Star Wars Return of the Jedi - It may have a lot to do with seeing the movie opening day in '83 with my dad, cousin and uncle, but I just love the movie. I respect Empire, but there's just something about Jedi that puts it over the top.
Revenge of the Sith - The turn from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader was awful and made no sense.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Hits all the beats of the book it needed and left so very little out.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - Leaving out the origin of Voldemort/Horcruxes was a huge disservice.

Middle Earth The Two Towers - Just love every bit of this movie
Desolation of Smaug - I haven't seen Battle of the Five Armies yet, but this one was the first Middle Earth movie to lose my attention, I barely remember the last 30-45 minutes.

Pirates - The first one
Worst pick any of the others.

Star Wars: I love them all. Haters be darned. I only hope I'll be able to say the same after the release of the new films.
MCU: Are you kidding? It's my childhood dream come true! If you ever told me as a kid we'd have more than one CBM (that wasn't Superman or Batman) out every three years,I'd have laughed in your face.

Middle Earth: I enjoyed the OT enough to buy the EE's. Still, I wouldn't consider myself a diehard fan.

Pirates: Loved the first one.Liked the most recent one.The other two were mind numbingly bad. Depp is great in the role,so I'm curious about the next film.

Harry Potter: Again,not really a die hard fan,but I saw all the movies.I enjoyed most of the early ones,but really struggled to care about the last 2 or 3.

1. Star Wars
Some of my earliest memories are of watching the original trilogy (The prequels were also a big part of my later childhood). Almost everything in these movies is iconic, and yet they're only now starting to run with it.

2. Tolkien
LotR trilogy is near perfection. Hobbit movies were an enjoyable enough ride.

3. Harry Potter
I never found the individual movies to have terribly compelling stories or very interesting characters, but the overall story and the world is undeniably special and always a delight to be in for 2-3 hours.

4. MCU
I really enjoy GotG and WS (and Thor/Cap/IM to a lesser extent), but the universe on the whole hasn't connected with me the same way as the three franchises above. There's just an absence of...magic or an emotional core that makes me less invested (I think it might also have something to do with there being no recurring musical themes. I also find the general tone of a lot of films to be pretty groan-worthy, and the cinematography is often flat). That being said, unlike with HP, LotR, and SW, I haven't seen the 'end' of this story yet nor how the character arcs will play out, so come the credits of Infinity War pt II, I might be changing my rankings.

5. Pirates.
I really like the first movie. The others, not so much.

Star Wars could possibly rise higher than Marvel if marvel messes up and/or Star Wars 7-10 end up being great. Pirates was good, but not near as complex as any of the others, Harry Potter I think was great, but again, not as complex. (As well as wasn't my fav) Middle-Earth a lot more complex than I thought it would end up becoming, it was especially good that they linked the Hobbit in. MCU, most complex and personally the most enjoyable. If they do as well as they have done so far they will stay there.

How is the MCU complex? Because of the different franchises rolled into one?

Middle Earth (I liked the Hobbit movies fair enough. There were too long and over bloated in some parts, but they were charming. But LOTR, the Ride of Rohirrim is probably one of the most epic scenes I've seen in a movie.)
MCU (It's a great replacement for me since LOTR is done.)
Star Wars (I'm one of the few that actually prefer the prequels to the originals, simply because I just loved Ewan McGregor's take on Obi Wan. It's why I hope they might do a spin off on him while Luke was still growing up. Ewan would be about the right age too for such a thing)
Harry Potter (These movies really built up a world of their own, and it was especially wonderful watching all of the kids grow up before our very eyes.)
POTC (I only like the first one, the rest were terrible IMO)
