Hmm...thought this had already been done already with the few 'Die Hard' threads, but apparently not. So, high time to do it, I say.
'Die Hard' is a series that I've come to enjoy quite a bit. Not as much as say Indiana Jones or the Batman films, but I still enjoy it quite a bit. It's about on par with how much I enjoy the 'Dirty Harry' films - which should have its own thread by now, IMO.
'Die Hard' is really the only acclaimed flick in the bunch, with 2007's 'Live Free Or Die Hard' taking second place in terms of popularity with critics/audience ratings. 'Die Hard With A Vengeance' and 'Die Hard 2: Die Harder' opened to mixed reviews at the time, but are still generally well liked sequels. Unfortunately, 2013's 'A Good Day to Die Hard' opened to highly negative reviews.
Sure, 'Live Free Or Die Hard' gets some flack on the internet from a few purists - but what film doesn't? 'Die Hard 2: Die Harder' also falls victim to this, but they may take a backseat to the lashing that forum-goers will be giving 'A Good Day To Die Hard' for years to come.
But still, for the most part it's a great, fun series with an amazing entertaining protagonist who despite being in over his head, comes out on top.
My ranking;
1.) Die Hard
2.) Live Free Or Die Hard
3.) Die Hard: With A Vengeance
4.) Die Hard 2: Die Harder
-Have not yet seen 'A Good Day To Die Hard'.
