Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

I hear The Science of Superman covers all his powers and how they would be possible or not.

Well I am pretty sure it wasn't till sometime in the 50's early 60's because the late 40's early 50's cartoon had him just denser and stronger no flying heat vision etc.

Factually you are mistaken.
The Fleischer cartoons ran from 1941 to '43. He was flying by then and possessed Xray vision.

My guess is those 3 big words will be "Clark, I'm pregnant." Also, did it show Lara Lane Kent dying? I couldn't read it. It seems as though in the book, Lois hooked up w/ Richard in 2 or 3 months or even more after Supes left. So she would have been pregnant by then, but not showing signs yet. She is very active, so she could keep the weight off for awhile.

No, LL Kent didn't die...as for the three words...I'm gonna say DC will wait a little longer now, since SR will kind of "ruin" the comic surprise

So was Jason concieved the day before Superman left ??????

Perhaps just perhaps Lois wouldn't be "showing" yet at the point that her relationship with Richard might reach intimacy, but surely she would know that she is pregnant, thereby putting a shadow on her ethical behavior. Does she allow Richard to believe he is the father tho she knows different?

Some have debated the ethics of Superman as a homewrecker, but surely Lois' behavior as a possible creator of this bogus family unit should be suspect as well.
And what about the speed( after an intimate relation with Richard )that the pregnancy comes to term? Wouldn't that seem unusual.

Talk about the fantastic things Superman can do.

Oh heck, that's easy to figure...Supes and Lois knocked boots the day before he left. A day or two later Lois realizes he's gone, and goes and gets HAMMERed at a local bar, meets Richard there, and in a fit of drunken anger/horniness sleeps with him to feel better/get back at Supes...thereby making it possible for Richard to believe the kid is his...problem solved...and it's bellieveable becasue I've seen this happen to college girls all the time :D :(

Well that is weird because in the video I can't stand to fly they show clips of superman cartoon from the 40's and he has to jump multiple times to stop a missle guess thats an early episode and he flys later?
like I said I am not sure since I only remember from when I was a kid 35+ years ago.

As for the science of superman I do not recall them explaining super breath but I could have just missed it.

whats the name of the actor playing jason? i dont see him or character on the cast list on the imdb page.
and is he Bryan singers son?

"Kate Bosworth is 23 years old. Baby Routh is 26. So by building the story around, in part, a 5-year-old child, the movie is telling us that a 21-year-old Superman had sex with a barely 18-year-old Lois Lane in Superman II. " States one Critic

That is certainly the stupidest thing about this movie.

The Actors Age Doesnt Matter,
Thank you...I was about to post the same thing..just because they are a certain age in real life doesn't mean the characters they are playing are the same age..it is called acting....they are playing parts.

no problem, if you want a good example, tom welling is 28, and he protrays a 19 year old clark kent.
and anthony hopkins playing a younger version of his character hannibal lector after 2 movies with the character.

and even if it did...18 is still legal...I know I woulda banged Bosworth/Lois at 18, gigity gigity gigity ;)

Bad move on Singer's part to make this kid Superman's.

How is this explained? He had *no* powers when he "slept" with Lane. None. I don't even buy "they were dormant" argument.

Really looking forward to the movie but this part will suck big time. :(

Why?
It could end up being a great part of the movie if handled right...and from what I have heard it is and it was handled well in the novel. Just because it hasn't happend in the comics does not automaticly make it a bad idea for the movie(s).

Ok, actually in the book it is said that she meets him within three WEEKS of Superman leaving. Also, it is kinda implied that they may very well have done it on other occassions then just the one specifically in S II.

So, her lover seems to disappear, and with in a few weeks she meets someone else. She is NOT seeking a relationship, but obviously is still seekig some form of comfort.

I know we don't want to de-value or image of these fictional characters, but it is more then reasonable to assume that she slept with Richard within a week or so of them starting to "see eachother" especially seeing as how she would have been seeking the "comfort" and it woyuld be a human thing to end up finding yourself in bed with someone who ws there for you in the absence of someone else, when you are jhurt and they left with no explination and all.

So it makes sense that she may very well have slept with both of these men within one month, and also would have been clearly upset at the time and probably would not have been too quick to notice being late, which again, with what she was under with the stress and emotion, would not be to unexpected anyways.

Also, the fact that it was percieved that Jason was pre-mature obviously implies that she believed he was concieved at the later date with Richard, but also close enough to when she last slept with Superman.

Although I still do not like the idea that he was boinking her without telling her who he really was, ass.

wow, it's funny seeing some posters just hearing about this now, declaring it will suck. People, watch it, see if it works, then come back and tell us why it sucked.

Yes once she accepted that Superman had left, but at what interval of time would Lois realize that Superman was "gone". He gave no notice, so wouldn't it be more than reasonable that Lois would wait for him to return for quite a while before coming to the upsetting conclusion that he is gone. At what point in time should she be "consolable".
