Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

I must say....that I'm getting tired of all the people saying Jason was annoying/worst part of the movie.

I feel he was fun in most of his scenes, and he'll bring a new and exciting kind of insight into the character of Clark/Superman. I think just what annoys you is that you fear Singer willl turn the kid into Superman literally in future sequels. And he's not that stupid.

More than likely whatever happens with Jason, you won't see coming, but he's not going to be replacing Ka-El as Superman.

What do you mean by the red S and black background? Am I missing something, or is my brain just fried...?

Welcome to the Hype!

He's referring to Superboy's final costume.
It was a black t-shirt with a red S on it.

Hey, can anybody post some pix of that kid? he is very cute!!!
His grandad lives in the same town I do and he banks with us as well. He brings his grandson in...yes the same kid that was in SMR. He is very cute and I have gotten to hear spoilers from the beginning of the filming.

I just got back from the movie, and I don't see this can even be a debate, of course it's Clark's son. The last scene between the two totally sealed it. By the way, absolutley loved every minute of it. Did justice to the original in every way. Routh nailed it.

Did anyone else catch when Superman saved Jason, Lois, and Richard...they have a close on Jason's face, and he has the split curl VERY much like Superman's for just the one shot?

I thought that was cool.

BTW, the kid was adorable regardless.

He did a great job. His grandparents bank with us, living in the same town as me, and his grandad proudly carts him in to us when he is visiting from Cali. We got his autograph and his grandad has been telling us spoilers since they beginning of filming. He is very cute and funny in person.

Yea, I noticed that.

kid won't be cute by the next movie which is why you shouldn't have kids in franchises. 2-3 year production, he'll be 11 or 12 by the third movie.

And...Harry Potter ages in the novels...why can't Jason in the Supe flicks???

Because it's not established that a year passes in each film like the Potter series.

I'm sure they'll cast another actor as the older Jason.

lol i didnt notice that..i'll check that out on my second viewing

I loved the kid. And I prefer they delve more on the emotional aspect of him in the future movies rather than the superpowered aspect. It's like Clark being the spy on the wall... the thought just breaks my heart to think that Clark could only see his son from afar, but then again, I get the sense that Jason knows Clark is Superman.

I think it's funny too that he made him. I think he's going to keep it a secret as well. I think Jason would know why Clark keeps his powers secret.

When Supes is talking to Jason while he's sleeping at the end (repeating Jor-El's words), I understand "The son becomes the father," but how does "The father becomes the son" work? Or is it, "The father becomes the sun" (metaphorically speaking)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not very well-versed in Superman.:O

Granted we have that whole exposure to the sun and solar battery aspect of Kryptonians powering up.

We also realize that "the kid" is only half-Kryptonian and we realize Supes gave up his power before layin the pipe in S2, but isn't it possible that the kid coulda kicked through Lois' gut while in the last stages of her pregnancy?

some how i remember this an an asnwer a long time ago to if superman and lois have a child

Welcome to the wonderful new world of superman returns!!!

when they revamp Supes back in the 80's it was mention he didn't get his powers until awhile as a kid. Guess the same for the kid and he's no where in Supes class since he's a half human

oh yes, merging

i need to start a Jason must die thread. the kid needs to go

It's sad to see so many people like you are nothing but pathetic & sick human being. How the hell can you just plain hate kids? I pity you if ever become a father, because I think you will try to kill one if one is born with your comment here. :o

As completely pointless as he was, he behaved himself and didn't annoy me too much. That's all I can say.

If you watch the "Look, up in the sky" documentary, Singer says that the boy is Richard's son. That's good enough for me.

Well, now you have proof that Singer is a liar. Still good enough? :)

Hey! I got it!

Jason IS Richard's son.
Richard is Cyclops.
Cyclops is a mutant.
And the male is guilty of putting the gene mutant on a person.

MYSTERY SOLVED!
