Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

That's a Kryptonian bed......that's why it looks different.

I actually liked the kid, the ending with Superman's quote.....****ing awesome.

So Clark has a chamber that can depower him in the FOS, he has a bed so he can be with Lois, he can listen to his dead parents without being freaked out, he can control the temp of the FOS, but he can't put in a T.V.? Its 2006, mostly everybody has 1 T.V., and most have 3 or 4. I do. The FOS should also be able to screen new movies. Then again, Supes would consider it illegal. Hmm.

Yellow Son

I noticed that once he stoped using his inhailer, he didnt seem to need it. Anyone else notice that?

Next movie. Superman's relationship is going to grow with his son.

I dont know what's going to happen with the Lois, Richard, Supes triangle, but someday soon, Jason will have to learn the truth of who his father is and Superman needs to guide him.
I keep seeing people mention this and I haven't seen SR yet but from the way people are describing this scene..it sounds like a nod or homage to another Richard Donner movie to me...The Goonies....Mikey all of a sudden tosses away his inhaler at one point in that and didn't need it anymore...don't recall what he had done just prior to throwing it away though.

I notice that too. I have a feeling that before Jason was exposed to TheKRYPTONITE, he had all of these sickness because he's half human & half Kryptonian . Once he was exposed to the Kryptonite , his powers began to surface .:supes:

Good eyes there, Venom!! I seen the Goonies & for some reason, I didn't thought about that when Jason throw his inhaler away. Maybe Singer was paying homage to Donner's other films beside the first Supes movie. Maybe Jason should have the mark of the beast on his scalp for the sequel. :yellow: :ghost:

Has anyone noticed that jasons family life is going to closley resemble supermans?

jason has two fathers, Richard is by no means a bad person, hes a heroic man and hes a great father, he is the human father for jason (ala johnathan to clark) and will help him to grow and understand life and the good of humanity, while superman, will act as the kryptonian father, someone who will teach jason his heratage, someone who will pass down great knowledge to his son and watch over him in times of need. their are differinces, jason will be able to see superman every once in awhile and, ofcourse, lois is connected to both fathers unlike martha or lara, but essentaly i believe jason will be raised much in the same manor as clark was, which isint a bad thing.

i love the way they handeled the boy, i was worried about the jason storyline, but they managed to make it touching, and handeled the situation not only realisticly, but in a way that seemed moderatly fair for everyone, i was so worried richard would be left behind as the "other" guy, but he turned out to be a well rounded character, and a great addition to the mythos, along with jason.

He did a great job. His grandparents bank with us, living in the same town as me, and his grandad proudly carts him in to us when he is visiting from Cali. We got his autograph and his grandad has been telling us spoilers since they beginning of filming. He is very cute and funny in person.

Aw, that's cute. Is Tristan 5 years old as well?

I loved him in the movie, and hope he still plays Jason in the sequel. He was adorable.

I agree...I really like both Jason and Richard also.

He is signed on for two more films. His grandparents live where I live and bank with us as well. He has brought his grandson in and showboated him around the bank. He is very cute and his grandad kept us up to date on the progress of the films and some spoilers. The kid is super funny and cute in real life.

Jason Lane was a wonderful addition to SR. He provided all the hurt in that movie and was acted and came off wonderfully.

You may have some issues with Superman having a son, and that will happen one day in the comics so I suggest you prepare. However, the kid in this movie was great.

I thought the kid was pretty good, and kids usually annoy me. I guess I found his weakness kind of endearing.

1. It my sound old fashion (but hey thats me) But some how superman having a kid out of wed lock (and the rest that goes with that) doesn't sound right.........It doesn't fit with his high level of morality...

Agreed but it's typical pop movie cliche to throw in a twist like that. It's unfortunate but what's done is done.

Superman, once a paragon for truth and justice...was shown as incompentent, timid, stalkish, deadbeat, not practicing safe sex, having a fear of commitment, and abandoning all in the same film. This makes Superman's public speeches of inspiration and quirky boyscout announcments a facetious facade to hide his own inner fears.

In the end, it's all noble and really shows that Superman really has heart and tries his best, but...it shouldn't have been fleshed out with the Superkid so uneccessarily. There are plenty of other ways to show Superman's humanity.

It is a rather good point. Especially since that would mean that "Superman" intentionally stole Lois from "Clark".

Dude its not like Jason was planned...s*it happens!

Not to Superman! I mean, this totally makes Superman a complete hypocrite if he makes a speech about planned parenting! (which is exactly is something typical for what this Superman would do in his public statements)

Exactly my point..If Sups would've had a ***** happens kind of attitude then he wouldn't need to pursue her as Clark if he could have her as Sups.

So Superman can't even stay around for a month after they had sex before leaving for his home planet? Otherwise he'd have found out that Lois was pregnant and probably wouldn't have left. Maybe Superman just not good in relationships. He got what he wanted out of Lois and left her without letting her know...and gone for 5 years! How was Lois expect to wait for him when she didn't know where he went and for how long? I have to wonder if he really likes her or just using her for sex. That's why I doubt Superman is as virtuous as he's protrayed in the movie. To me he's the example of a irresponsible lover and a deadbeat dad.

Only saw this film today and was well, Disappointed, my cousin who went with me thought it was great..Its easy to jump on board the new style...But hey these fine points of fact do not sit well with TRUE superman fans.....
