Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

I KNEW I'D GET FLAMED! Anyway, I was watching closely, and if you had read carefully, I stated in my post that we don't actually see Jason lift/throw the piano. I also stated that I didn't have another explanation for the piano scene. This is just a conspiracy theory, so chill out Bats!

noooooooooo why did u merge this..this is APPRECIATION for people who loved jason NOT for people who had a problem with jason! keep the haters out..didnt ya see the begginin post!

Are the moderators blind? You've merged the anti-jason with the pro-jason threads into one. They'll annihilate each other!

lol thats what im saying! which is why i made a pro jason one..leaving thre anti jasons in another thread...geez

Why is it every time I post something, the threads get merged and my post gets buried?

Here's the original post, just so I know someone (besides Batman the 6th) has read it. Thanks.

Maybe I'm rationalizing a little bit here and I'll probably be flamed BIG-TIME, but do we know for certain that Jason is Superman's son? We never actually saw him perform any superhuman feats. The "piano scene" happened off-camera and Richard opened the door before Jason got a chance to rip it off its hinges. We never actually heard what Lois whispered to Superman. Maybe Singer wanted us to jump to this conclusion. Of course, I have no other explanation for the "piano scene" but stranger things have happened.

Then it's all your fault. You even spelled official wrong! :) :) :)

Don't you know that everytime you make an "official thread" the mods kill a kitten/another posters legitimate thread :) :) :) :)

Nobody else was in the room. Lois saw what happened. Jason had his hands out like he had just finished pushing an object. Lois asked her son to open the door knowing that he possessed the strength to do so. When Superman asked how they found him in the ocean, Lois looked hesitatingly to her son who made an incredible feat of spotting a man in a blue suit in the middle of a blue ocean in the middle of a storm hundreds of feet up in the air and a few miles away. Why then does Superman pass onto Jason the father to son inheritance speech from Jor El in the end unless Lois whispered that Jason was his son?

-mods, please read before you merge two opposite threads into one unless you can rename this thread the Jason discussion thread since half of it came from an anti-Jason thread.

Saying it's ok for Superman to knocked up a girl and then leave it's like condoning every pregnancies out there where the dad left without taking responsibility for the child. After Supe found out the awful truth did he offer to tell Lois his second identity so he can help raise the child? Nope he just let Richard keep on believing the lie and let him take care of Supe's kid for him. I thought Superman is supposed to be decent and good and never lie. I am sure in this case he did the wrong thing but his fans are too eager to look past it so they can preserve his image. Figures.
Actually, he saw that Lois and Richard had a loving relationship. He knew that Jason thinks of Richard as his dad. He knew that Richard thinks of Jason like his son. He knows that Lois doesn't want to be with him and even if she was, they'd never be able to have a normal family life where Jason can grow up normal. He knows that Richard and Lois are good people and they can take care of Jason.

Instead of being selfish and taking Jason and trying to break Lois and Richard's relationship apart, he steps back and lets the family continue. If he had done anything else, I guarantee you you'd have WAY more people complaining about Superman's character. He would come off too emo. He would come off selfish. He would come off as a homewrecker.

Hang, Wait one minute. IF superman did the deed when he had his powers taken away, jason shouldnt have any power............

That's because Jason is not Superman's son, we were just lead to believe he is...We saw what Singer wanted us to see...for a reason. Superman believes Jason is his son. Lois believes it. But is this reality? We don't know. How is this going to play out in the sequel? Didn't superman seem to come out of his loneliness when she found out Jason was his son? Wouldn't it be even more tragic if he finds out that he is not. What if Supes finds out in the sequel that he can't have children of his own. But, just think that if Richard does die and Superman steps up to marry Lois. He then adopts Jason as his own. That sounds like a hero to me.

I just don't think that WB, who has protected Superman's image for so long, would let Superman be seen as a dead-beat dad. But if Singer came to them with a vision, a game plan for this kid all along, I could see how they'd go for it.

Imagine a scene in the sequel, much like the end of The Usual Suspects, in which Lois swears she saw Jason throw the piano at that guy and the scene replays, this time from a different angle...there was a struggle, she was on the floor...behind the desk...the ship lurches and the piano (was it on rollers?) comes crashing at the crook..what did she really see?

Again, I could be wrong. Look at what they (DC) did to Blue Beetle - shot that poor bastich in the head. Perhaps they are looking to truly add a Superkid to the Superman family of characters. Either way, Superkid or not, it creates great drama for this new franchise and I'll be in line for part 2. I want to see it now.

I was confused about Usual Suspects as well. Like, Verbal, was he really a butcher of his family, Kasier Sosay, was Keaton killed by him? I watch that movie almost every time its on TV. Does it clarify anything on the DVD, like does Singer explain anything? For SR, why would the kids hands be up so high? Was he a Mozart and just finished a great piece of work? I think not. The kid is Supes' kid. No doubt.

...so i was thinking about his powers in the future,...taken that Kal-El is a 100% kriptonian breed and mini-Supes is only half of it...

if Jason gets to fully develop powers, how strong might he come to be...?

will he grow up to be as powerful as Supes ??

will the kryptonite will affect him as hard as it does Supes ??

if i remember correctly, he seemed to not need the inhaler anymore after he showed some physical strenght pushing the piano...

what do you think of this ??

Uh, are you serious? This forum specifically titled Superman Returns (Spoilers), which means it allows all spoilers to be discussed in here. Yes, even the topic title.

LoL.

I never understood why people would come in here and get mad when someone says a spoiler, when it's an all spoilers section of the forum.

Anyways, back on topic. I'd say he WILL inherit all of Supermans powers. You have to wonder how dominate his genes will be compared to humans. If the sun makes him super strong, it should make his sperm super strong too.

The whole inhaler thing just showed that he won't start developing his true powers until he hits close to pubity. Like Superman did. That most likely explains why he wasn't reacting to the kryptonite Lex put close to him on the ship.

Just my opinion.

I believe the most current superboy is also half human. Check it out in the comics.

Boywonder: It doesn't matter anymore. There have been so many spoilers posted in the titles, that no one cares anymore, except you, sucka

The Mods said that you shold not put spoiler in titles.

As I said before that thread is now gone so that rule is gone / not stickied HERE

what puzzles me is Clark had no powers at all when he knocked up Lois so really the kid having powers at all is kinda dumb. Just one more reason the movie flopped.

It's still vague history. Superman II may not have even happened. The excuse that his DNA was unaffected doesn't hold water to me.

no powers +krptyotian dna= simple. even those he lost his powers he's still krpytonian...now..class dismissed.

That was pretty much the point of my earlier post as well. We never saw Jason actually lift/throw the piano. Maybe he lifted his hands away from the piano when it began to move. Maybe Lois was making light of the situation when she asked Jason to help open the door. And we never actually heard what she whispered to Superman in the hospital. Maybe the speech Superman gave Jason while he was sleeping was in Richard's behalf.

Are we all assuming Jason is Superman's son, or has it actually been stated by Bryan Singer?

Again, before you flame me, I'm just thinking outside of the box.

Lol, this is pathetic. Jason was clearly Supes son. CLEARLY.
