Hey guys,

I haven't posted here in awhile, because I stopped reading Spiderman about two years ago. It had nothing to do with the stories, it was just getting expensive. Well I got a new job, a comic shop a couple of miles away, and well I am back to reading.

I just bought Amazing Spider 561-564, and I used to be able to read comics in one sitting, and I had a hard time going through 561 and 562, and I look at 563, and I am like errr. These stories are freaking horrible. I may have to go to another comic if this continues, I love Spidey I have been reading Spidey off and on since I was little, and I sure hope something happens soon.

Well I am back once again hopefully to post useful conversation.

You picked a bad batch of issues. #561 was part 3 of a 3-part story, so that's a bad place to start; #562 and 563 were written by Bob Gale, who sucks; and #564 was just a filler issue.

The current story, which started at #565, is pretty interesting. I'd also recommend going back and starting at #546, since that's the proper start of the whole BND saga.

I am jazzed about New Ways To Die, the arc starting in Aug(?) which is written by Dan Slott and features JRJR back on pencils. Should be really good.

For real.

He hadn't read Spidey in 2 years (which puts him reading lastoly during the New Avengers/The Other period), and he comes back and thinks THIS sucks.

Says it all.

(Yes, I'm laughing at Blader's response of it was just a "bad batch of issues")

And by a bad batch...he means everything from OMD on.

That's the whole bakery!!!:woot:

LOL :woot:

I tried giving BND a fair chance...I really did....

but looking at these stories from a creative point of view they range from suck to mediocre at best and they are VERY uninspired. :csad:

There has never been a time where I've had no interest at all in reading spidey at all, and I know I'm not alone in this....

"BAD BATCH"

LOL

I am glad i came in here and read this thread.

I almost fell onto the floor in tears.

Some bad eggs or something get into those BND issues or what?

Priceless.

I had been seeing the reviews of the other comics, and they didn't look to be really good. Although I am a big fan of change, and I would have probably been pissing people off saying that those comics leading up to Brand New Day were awesome.

I did like the new suit I thought it was cool. The on and off MJ thing looked to be getting annoying, but now that I can afford comics again maybe I need to be reading Batman or something. I am sure it will get better.

I don't blame you...I've been really into batman since omd.

as of now a controversial story is being told and I'm really digging it because its being told WELL. :cwink:

Personally, I think it's getting better. Everything before this point has been ho-hum, but the current story has been interesting and "New Ways to Die" looks insane. The only BND stories that have been truly abysmal are the ones written by Bob Gale (he did one or two good ones, but damned if I can remember what they were).

And Batman...at this point, Batman is more of an acid trip than a comic book. :funny:

Like I said...there is mixed reaction for batman r.i.p as well.
but its not a continuity destroying story...and it sure isn't repeating itself. :cwink: (yeah i went there. lol)

You sure about that? :funny:

There are alot of nostalgic references of course...
but its not destroying continuity, do you consider gwen's sins past as destruction of continuity? (for what its worth i thought that story was well written....i just wished it was someone other than norman. even harry would have been better.)

If you are aware with what is going on in batman right now (and i think you do :cwink:) than you have to admit that its not destroying continuity but adding to it. if they choose to make a certain them in that storyline true than it would be adding to continuity. love it or hate it. :csad:

its still interesting me regardless....or maybe im still buzzed up about the dark knight. :yay:

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying RIP, but (assuming it holds out for the rest of the story) I think "Thomas Wayne faked his death so he could murder his heroin-addicted wife" can be considered a destruction of continuity. :oldrazz:

I dunno...i kind of liked the "hero wandering around mentally distraught" storyline a bit better the FIRST time i read it, when it was called Born Again. :daredevil

well yeah...give or take i guess. :yay:
if the writer is VERY careful it can wrap around continuity instead of seriously altering it....bats parents past haven't been explored in depth before....i think. (please correct me if im wrong)
but one screw up from grant morrison will do what omd did to spidey's history. :csad:
