So it turns out helping my (not anywhere near drunk according to her) mother set up an Amazon account reminded me so much of my old tech support days that I wanted to hang up on her and cry a bit.

Instead I spent 15 minutes with her making an Amazon account, accessing her email account (which has 21000+ unread emails, mostly spam) then back to Amazon, then back to the emails since she forgot her account activation code, then back to Amazon and finally to activate the account.

And now just got another call because she has more tech problems...

I have to go back to my parent's house all the time to help with tech issues. I wish they were this interested in tech before they got to retirement age so I wouldn't have to keep explaining the difference between browsers and search engines.

Ever since people at work learned my husband was willing to work on computers for family and friends for free, he gets lots of calls. The vast majority of what he does is virus removal because people can't stay off of porn sites.
