Real Life Purge

Stupidity at its finest. Then again, there were people that copied that stuff they saw from the movie Project X.

I'm surprised how many of you believe this is true. Do you also believe the Onion is factual news?

Someone on another forum claiming that they were hearing purge report on their police scanner in Louisville. Doubt its true but wonder if anything is actually going down.

I have just finished reading through this LIVE BLOGGERS list of crap he heard going on in Louisville. Sorry... Sounds like a typical night in any City over a certain size.

Oh please. No. Nothing is going on. Pretty sure it'd be news on CNN if some POS was going around killing people on a rampage. I don't know what "forums" you're getting this from, but may I suggest not visiting them? They sound like derp central.

This wasn't even a good movie. If you're going to violently reenact a film, can you at least make it a Kubrick, like Clockwork Orange? Tsk.... sociopathic kids these days. They have no sense of culture.

So had anything actually happened?
Yep. Haven't you heard? Louisville is now a crater to prevent other cities from thinking it was ever a good idea to re-enact a terrible plan to allow crime to run rampant for one night a year.

Why can't people just leave the fiction/action on the screen? Why do they feel the need to bring it to life? Seriously, whoever thought it was such a good idea plays way too many video games and watches too many of those types of films to the point where they've become demented .___.

But I wanted to be Superman :csad:

To show how much teenagers have devolved, our teen anthem movie was 'Dazed & Confused'.... their's is Project friggin' X. Sad bastards.

This thread is just so face-palmingly silly. The only people purging will be insecure teens with eating disorders.

So had anything actually happened?

One of the cities where this was supposed to happen was Detroit. Well, yesterday when I went outside, it was a sunny day with no smoke or fires around. People just playing Baseball and Soccer in the park. So I guess this is an example of teenagers starting some thing on social media and were too lazy to actually do what they said they were going to do.

That's good news. I'm glad it was just a stupid prank. It could have went a lot worse.

I think this is a lie. Detroit is mentioned and there isn't smoke, fires, gunshots and police sirens? No mayhem? No Robocop? You sir, are a liar!

Well we were promised Robocop, but all we got was a guy in a 2014 Robocop costume! :argh:

I find it odd that the whole point of "The Purge" in those movies is that they are legal. The only way they work is if there is no one (i.e police) actively trying to stop them. So... these people are saying that they're doing "The Purge" but in reality it's just coordinated crime/murder, it has nothing to do with what is portrayed as "The Purge" in the franchise.

I can't understand how anyone gave this thing any more credence than other stupid pranks teens do. But then again, in the past few days here on the Hype I've seen posters that think the Vatican is eating children and selling their organs to rich people (who would have little use for the organs cuz you can't transplant a child's organ into and adult) and another poster that thinks that the investigation into Michael Jackson for child abuse was spurred by a shadowy Jewish Media Cabal for the purpose of protecting Woody Allen, cuz Allen is such a big money maker for Hollywood.

Nowadays you never know what people are capable of. But I live fairly close to Louisville and I doubted anything would happen. A lot of people on FB and at work were all reacting to fake news lines since no one ever checks sources.

I think certain posters feed off drama and potentially dramatic stories. It's not that they're gullible; it's that they're bored, so they sensationalize and want to be first to break news, and dive into ridiculous conspiracy theories and keep pushing their "news" even after everyone else has already laughed it off. Because at that moment they feel like they're doing something important, even heroic in some cases.
