[rec]

it really, really doesnt distract so much that you cant tell what's happening to glance down at the dialouge.

Unless you're a terrible reader. But yeah, I just don't understand the hate towards subtitles.

Well, it already looks better than George Romero's Diary of the Dead, but that's honestly not too hard.

Has anyone else seen this?
Yeah, I saw this last weekend at a film festival. Here's my thoughts posted at the horror thread:

I just came from Night Visions Film Festival and saw two new excellent horror films which were ("kinda") scary and creepy.

First one was Spanish zombie movie [Rec]. It was very nice and refreshing to see a creepy and scary zombie movie for a while. I love splatters, but making zombies fcking scary is cool. Definetely a must see for all zombie fans. Will keep you in your seat. One of the best horror movies of 2007. One of the best zombie movies ever. A must see for 2008 (worldwide release this year). 4/5

And the second one which was unbeliavable good movie, French Inside. This is the best horror movie of 2007 and definetely The Must See horror movie of 2008. This will became a new classic. This was so fcking good that I wanna see this again, now! Unfortunately I don't think this will came to theaters in Finland. I don't think any Finnish distributor has enough balls to bring this to even a limited release. 5/5

Did some diggin and looks like Inside will be a DTV in USA. What a shame! But then again maybe it's for the better of the movie: no chopping. It would have most definetely get NC-17.

i'll wait for the remake. that preview looked freaking cool, and scary as hell, but i hate subtitles. if i'm watching a movie, then i want to watch it... not read it. and the performances mean little to nothing when you can't understand a word they're saying. you can either look at their faces and expressions, or read what they're saying.

so, yeah. i'll definitely see the remake, depending on who's involved, of course.

I'm jealous you got to see it on the big screen.

Oh, damn! :wow: That really is some freaky, terrifying ****.

Man, I wish you guys could see it. If you can do torrents, I say go for it because that's the only way to see it right now.

i don't know if any directors have used that trick before, but that is awesome! i may have to see this after all.

The one time I've known a Director to do that trick...not telling the actors what is going to happen was in the original Alien.

Scott never told them what would happen in that 'dinner scene' where the alien first comes out. Only John Hurt who had the alien in him knew what to do. Scott had multiple cameras set up to get everyone's reaction.

The other female actress Veronica Cartwright in an interview said she was so F'ing pissed off at Scott for doing that. So if you ever get around to watching Alien again those reactions are real. Watching Cartwright's after knowing this always makes me laugh now.

This movie looks pretty cool though, going to have to check it out. I think the remake is going to bomb as just "another zombie flick".

Neil Marshall didn't either reveal the creatures to the actors in The Descent until they filmed the first scene with them. He said that the girls were freaking out! :D

I'd recommend that to all US people as well. I have the feeling that they're saving this for After Dark Horrofest, because that's happening in about same time as the premiere of the remake.

I downloaded this movie just to train my ear in Spanish, and ended up being really surprised by how much I liked it.
It has a quick pace, a creepy atmosphere, and suspense all packed into it.
The camera perspective doesn't detract from the movie, and neither does having to read subtitles.
Anyone know of any other good Spanish horror movies?
I tried El Orfanato, but the subs I got with it were appalling.

Just seen this and have to admit, it was pretty impressive.
They used the cam thing along better than other movies, when they find the room and get filled in on info that was sorta cool and interesting. The only thing I didn't like much was the ending,
could sorta see how they were going to end up as worm food
and the sort of rock music during the titles felt kinda out of place.

"REC revolves around a television reporter, Ángela, and her cameraman, Pablo, who cover the night shift in one of Barcelona's local fire stations. The firehouse receives a call from an old lady trapped in her house. When they arrive, and the firemen and the police break down the door, the old lady suddenly attacks and bites one of the policemen, and it is revealed that an unknown but virulent disease is infecting people, causing them to turn into infected cannibals. The police and military quarantines the building and the camera crew is trapped inside, constantly recording the mayhem that ensues."

(sorry, there's no subtitles, but you get the idea)

Has anyone else seen this? I just watched this and holy **** was it good. The last 10 min. was some of the most creepy/scariest things I've seen in a long time. Yes, it's a Spanish film and has subtitles, but don't let that stop you from seeing this. Unfortunetly, I don't know when it will be released in the U.S. Right now the only way to see it is if you download the torrent for the film, which most people who have seen it have done, since it's the only way of viewing it right now. But if it hits theaters, I'm definitely paying to see it, just for that theater experience. But man, try to find a way to see this movie. I was a little put off by the handheld camera perspective, but it works amazingly well in this movie. I can't say enough good things. First horror movie to scare me in a long time. Unfortunetly, it's being remade for America and it will be titled "Quarantine."

That looks ****ing scary as hell!

The U.S. is only going to **** it up.
