World Recast Superman: The Movie

I was having a discussion with a friend about STM, where he felt strongly that the casting(apart from Reeve)was awful. That got me thinking, if you could pick any other actor in the late 70s to play the roles. Who would it be?

I didn't see a problem with Brando, but Donald Pleasence would have been a neat Jor-El.
