Ever read a fic you thought was amazing and just wanted to share it with others?

Or maybe you're tired of reading drabble and looking for something great to read?

I thought it might be a cool idea for us all to recommend fics we've liked and enjoyed, so that others might get the chance to experience them as well.

One of the best fanfics I've ever read is The Experiment 713 Series by Lori McDonald

To be honest, of all the fics i've ever read (and i've read over a 1000), it's most definitely in my top 5 of all time.

The first part is called Keeping a Distance and can be found here http://www.fanfiction.net/s/336948/1/

Here's a summary of Keeping a Distance-
fanfiction.net said:
"One of Sinister's experiments escapes from his lab in the Blackbird and attempts to make a new home for himself in the tunnels under the X-Mansion. Life's not quite that simple though."

and i promise that it's so much better than the summary descibes. it's an alternate universe (AU) story that has many fan favorite characters, but focuses mainly on Rogue and Gambit.

If anyone is interested, I'll post the links to the other parts of the story.

This is a great idea:up::cool:

glad you think so. got anything to recommend?

ok i was bored, so here's the other parts of The Experiment 713 Series if anyone is interested

Part B- The Gift
It's Christmas and the escapee discovers that, wounded as he is, he still has it in him to help someone else.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/336951/1/

Part C- Do Not Go Gentle
The escapee starts to try and reach out to people, to refind his lost humanity, but that all ends when Sinister comes back to claim him.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/336957/1/
There are 2 endings, you can choose which one you prefer.

Part D- Happy Endings
Devestated by what's happened in Ending B of "Do Not Go Gentle", the escapee is now a mental patient in the psychiatric ward of Muir Island, a man completely without hope until Moira McTaggert and Excalibur take him under their wing and show him that life...
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/336966/1/
This is the sequel to Ending B

Part E- Ash
Life is never easy. The escapee is recovering, but his problems aren't over yet. Excalibur doesn't seem to know what to do with him, Rogue is afraid of their increasing intimacy, Wisdom is running a background check on him...

anyone else got any recommendations? i got some down time coming up, and i'm up for some good reading

TCP: Five Minutes by Alara Rogers

Common People story. A young girl must save herself from a killer.

TCP's are tales of the common people. regular joes in the x-verse dealing with their lives.

it's been a couple years since i read this one, but it was the first tcp i ever read, and i don't read many, but i liked it. her powers were interesting. it's a one shot, so it'll be a quick read. in fact, i think i might read it again soon.

Thanks for the link. I've just read that "Five Minutes" one. Pretty interesting. Got any more recommendations?

Here's an oldie but goodie, written in 1998.

Jean and Me: A Tale of Marvels by David J. Warner

Me"

i really really liked this when i read it. i think it was the story that helped me gain respect for jean, because before then, i never really knew her as anything other than what i saw on TAS.

just out of curiousity, has anyone read any of the stories recommended, other than tking?

A Touch of Destiny by Addie Logan

it's been a long time since i have read this, but I was about to read it again. It's gotten over 100 reviews, so I assume that it's been well received

this deserves a good ol' fashioned BUMP

Thick As Thieves by Valerie J and Lori McDonald

if this book was in paperback form, it'd be one of those books that i couldn't put down. there was a couple times i stayed up til 2,3,4 o'clock in the morning just to read another chapter.

There was a fic I read long ago, called "Grail". It's an X3 relying on Phoenix. It's really nice and well developed, especially how she goes from Phoenix to Dark Phoenix. It starts wonderfully. The ending is not that awesome, but it's worth reading, I think. It's extremely long though:

ah the medicine wheel, i haven't heard about that site in a long time.

thanks for the recommendation flavio, i just might have to check that one out

i dont know why, but since i'm working on my fic, i have the urge to bump this

i used to write a fan-fic on my old hype profile, but it seems the thread disappeared never to return. it was called X-Men: Genesis and it re-imagined the X-Men as students at the Xavier Institute, which took on a more realistic school atmosphere.

Just a quick summary of what I had written so far... Scott Summers is just trying to get through another day at the Xavier Institute. He suffers from nightmares about his parents deaths in 9/11 and constantly tries to keep his infatuation with Jean Grey a secret, especially when her boyfriend Warren Worthington III constantly harasses and bullies him. His roommate and best friend Bobby Drake tries to support him but has his own problems as his parents have all but disowned him for his mutancy. And both of them have to deal with the overbearing staff which includes Headmaster Xavier, Miss Frost, Forge, and Mr. Braddock. It's just another day at Xavier's until a young man named Hank McCoy collapses on the front lawn of the school with a mutant-hunting Sentinel on his tail.

I really wish I had gotten to keep this one going. sigh.

why don't you try at it again? you don't have any backups of it anywhere?

im trying to motivate myself to finish up the next chapter of mine, and a new idea for a story idea popped in my head one morning, and next thing i knew, i had 10 pages of stuff

bumping for kicks, why not?

Just because I'm selfish, I'd thought I'd commercialize my own fic, just in case somebody pops in here and hasn't given it a try. :D There's a link in my signature or you can check out my fanfiction link:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3488996/1/The_Meaning_of_Pain

It's a Wolverine-centric fic following two storylines--Logan's escape from Weapon X (features Feral!Wolverine) and the events that take place after X3. This is me trying to pick up the pieces. Features Gambit along with the rest of the X-Men. :D First chapter is made up of journal form, but keep at it--it gets better as it goes. ;) As a comic book geek, I'm trying to meld movie and comic universes, so wish me luck and come enjoy the ride.

Secondly I have to recommend something that's a bit loopy, but probably the only series out here that I'm actually addicted to. It's a series written by the writer Notmanos, and I ask you to give it a try no matter how crazy it sounds. It has the best-written Wolverine on the internet, and really captures the essence of what I really love about Wolverine.

Some of the best features in the now 40+ story series (each story is at least 40,000 words):
An explanation and true revelation of the Phoenix
A retelling of the story of Mariko (My faaavorite story of his).
Lots of run-ins with Weapon X and some serious butt-kicking
Flashbacks from his time with Weapon X and Team X
Logan vs. Japanese crime lords
Team-ups with various X-Men from Rogue, Cyclops, Kitty, Colossus . . . . .
Some of the most hilarious, thought-provoking, well-researched, witty writing on the 'net.

The only thing is that the series is an X-Men movies and Angel x-over, which I think scares away a lot of readers. But I'm not even an Angel fan, yet I still love this series to death. Give it a shot!

One warning, though: this story is quite gruesome at parts (duh) and is rated for language.

Here's a link to the author's fanfiction page:

http://www.fanfiction.net/~notmanos

The first story in the series is probably the worst, but it's the shortest. Keep with it--it is well worth the time!
