Follow up to the 2004's Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption is a Western epic, set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. The story of former outlaw, John Marston, Red Dead Redemption takes players on a great adventure across the American frontier.

“The team at San Diego have massively exceeded our expectations with the sheer depth of experiences in Red Dead Redemption,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be.”

Utilizing Rockstar's proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), Red Dead Redemption features an open-world environment for players to explore, including frontier towns, rolling prairies teeming with wildlife, and perilous mountain passes - each packed with an endless flow of varied distractions. Along the way, players will experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick their own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it.

Red Dead Redemption, developed by Rockstar San Diego, will be available in fall 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.

Its about time they got back to working on this.

:wow:

Red Dead Revolver was great and I loved GUN so I can't wait to see more on this game. It looks fantastic.

I hope Rockstar San Diego has been taking notes from Rockstar NYC and Rockstar North about breathing life into a game world, and Euphoria had better be involved. It looks good so far.

I am excited to find out more about this.

Iv been waiting for a good western game, iv yet to play one. Red Dead was ok, and i flat out hated Gun(minus Tom Jane).

Those screens look great. This is running on the GTA4 engine, I presume?

I'm really hoping this game turns out good. I think that the wild west has great potential for video games, but it has not been tapped into yet.

Yeah, it's running on the RAGE engine which GTAIV used.

Oh yeah, I remember Red Dead Revolver. That was a game I picked up just for the heck of playing a game and I loved it! Played it like three times over when I first rented it, I don't normally even enjoy those kinds of games but it was just plain awesome. Never did play Gun though. I loved the duel system where you had to draw and fire your gun before the other guy. I hope this game is a suped up version of the old one.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Glad they're making another one. The first was pretty fun.

Yes! About kriffing time. Beautiful pics too. Heres hoping they keep in the multiplayer aspect of the game, me and my mates spent hours on that :D

^1st one was worth a rent. Good fun, but short.

This could be awesome.

I'm hoping the game is open world.

Basically...a western GTA is what I'm hoping for.

I really can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm pretty starved for a badass western game.

How was the first? I never managed to pick it up.

I cant wait to see this in action. A GTA style game set in a western setting is long, long over due.

^You should check out GUN. It's not a great game...but it is open-world, and a lot of fun in my opinion. Plus you can get it dirt cheap nowadays.

Yea i played Gun back when it released. It was ok, but i had to turn it off after i shot a guy in the face and he didnt die.

I never played Red Dead Revolver, but I did play Gun and I liked it. I'll probably give this a try when it comes out and rent Red Dead Revolver in the meantime. Open-world western sounds good.
