Refn Teaming with Gosling for Drive

warrior is my fav. film but i saw drive before i saw warrior lol

but warrior is getting snubbed lol

They're both great films. Warrior is truly brilliant, i say this as someone who doesn't give a **** about UFC.

But there is just something about Drive that hooks me. It's almost hypnotic.

Warrior was good with a very good ending, and some great moments scattered throughout, but it didn't wow me like The Fighter, not to compare them or anything. The Fighter was the first time in years that I felt something for a sports film, because I couldn't give a **** about sports.

Drive is unlike much I've seen this year. Which means the Academy won't give it much love because they won't change.

Drive ranked #19 on my top movies of 2011. I've seen it in theaters almost twice and it made it within my "excellent" category of films. I had high expectations--the movie fell short in a couple of ways, but what it was still able to show was good enough to propel it forward of most movies I'd seen this year.

Head over to Empire to see more.

I've found Carey Mulligan's career rather fascinating, as she has fast becoming one of the top young actresses in Hollywood today. She not only appeared in Drive, but she's also in the movie Shame and will appear alongside DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby. It seems like after playing second to Keira Knightley in Pride and Prejudice, these two actresses' careers have now gone on opposite direction, and Knightley is hardly in any recent movies that I know of. I think Mulligan has a very bright future ahead of her, if she keeps picking the right movies to showcase her exceptional acting skill.

EDIT: I totally forgot about Knightley's lead role in A Dangerous Method with Viggo and Fassbender, but it does seemed like her work has reduced drastically in recent years.

^Knightly will also be the lead in Anna Karenina which is a huge role and to be honest i recently saw never let me go and i thought knightly gave a better perfromance than mulligan

Knightly is highly underrated it is sickening

i think her career is doing just fine

Keira Knightley did Atonement and Never Let Me Go (which also co-starred Carey Mullian). She was great in both those movies.

Her movies Last Night with cardboard cut out Sam Worthington and Gangster flick London Boulevard with Colin Farrell didn't do great though

Keria Knightly deliberatley took a step back from acting after the POTC movies.

Knightley's doing just fine, and I also preferred her performance to Mulligan's in Never Let Me Go, but Mulligan was awesome in Shame this year. Knightley also spent time doing a play on the West End in '09-'10, so she wasn't taking a break from acting so much as branching out. They're both quite talented, imo.

my problem with mulligan is sometimes she is a bit boring i felt she was boring in never let me go and drive

It's not like Mulligan had much to do other than look cute and innocent in Drive.

Her character was introverted and quiet. She played the role how the character was supposed to be.

Irene was a innocent character, in ways withdrawn but Mulligan did the best she could work with for the role, she had so much enthusiasm of working with Refn that I guess she don't mind taking a role that's not much to chew on.

I could easily see all of those posters on my wall. Must try and find hi-rez versions.

Refn, Gosling and Mulligan actually went throught the script removing dialogue

I remember reading something here that Refn confirmed a superior Blu-ray coming out and thus i shouldn't bother with the upcoming Blu-ray release, am i rite or what guys?!

Mulligan was fantastic in Shame, but I would say Knightley topped her with her performance in A Dangerous Method. I have no idea why the awards shows ignored her performance in that film, but I guess not everyone can be Melissa McCarthy crapping in a sink.

I don't think I'm the only one that doesn't find Mellisa McCarthy the least bit funny.

No friend you are correct! He said we should expect a better edition of the release in fall. I totally cannot wait however It's irritating to wait for the dvd/bluray we should have gotten in the first place.

Yeah I thought Knightley gave easily the best performance in the film despite everybody in it was at a top-notch level, it's not easy to play a hysterical person but she did it well and I honestly don't understand the criticism that she was over the top, she once again shows that she is a force to be reckoned with and it helps that her character is the better developed of the three.
