I'm not too knowledgable on BR DVD players, so I'm not sure about this.

Will my PS3 still play standard movies, or do I have to convert to all Blue Ray versions?

first off, you can just call it Blu-ray player. ALL BR players play regular DVDs. You have the option to upscale them with the PS3 up to 1080p via HDMI cables, but if you dont have those, you can still view them at their native resolution of 480i

Thanks .

Whoa..you can upscale the reguar DVD's?

So, my regular Batman Begins DVD would look crisper on the PS3 if I've got the system set up for HD gaming?

Yes, the PS3 upscales standard DVDs. There's a setting somewhere that controls what res to upscale to I think.

Yeah, I think it's in BR Settings.

Does it have to be 1080 or could it be the 730?
