Remakes of old Monster Movies

What movie do you think would do very well if it was remade?

I would like either Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde or Godzilla, but i wish it would accually be done right this time.

My plan for the resurection of the Universal Monsters franchise.

1. Remake Frankenstein, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Mummy, the Invisible Man and the Wolf-Man.

2. In the case of Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Invisible Man, have the movies be a blend of both the original books and the 1930's movies.

3. R-rated horror movies. Not PG-13 adventure movies like the Mummy and Van Helsing were

4. Limit the number of sequels. Don't over do it like Universal did in the 1930's and 40's. Have the Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy II (Kharis), and a few others. No Abbot and Castello Meet So and So or crossovers between characters.

5. Have them in the same universe, but no crossovers.

I dont mind crossovers like Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla but Godzilla vs. King Kong... um.... NO

I'd really like to see the Creature of the Black lagoon but I dont like the idea of a monster falling in love with a woman. All the remakes could be cool.

Dracula and Mummy should be left out. Between Cappola's and Sommers' movies are still too recent for remakes.

I was going to pick up the 75th Anniversary of both Frankenstein and Dracula yoday...but no money I gotsa.


But seriously guys, I'm going to pick it up sometime ALONG with the original Mary Shelley book...and I'm writing a remake to this son-of-a-gun.


I believe Darth Elektra already thought it'd be a great idea (I don't know if he meant it's good for ME to write/direct it, or if it's good for SOMEONE to remake it... ). He said so in the Wolfman remake thread.


But honestly, if I couldn't remake Frankenstein, I guess I could go for Dracula. I would try for The Wolf Man but it's already getting the remake treatment.


BTW...if I was going to do a Franky remake...I'd combine elemnets from both the 1931 picture and the original book. It WOULD be R rated. AND it would be around 3 hours long probably.

Let me know how you guys feel about me writing a remake...because I REALLY would love to.

I just read Frankenstein. I felt it was kind of a weak novel. What I liked about the movies was the sweet setpieces and the iconic moments. I'd rather have a remake be closer to the movie than the book.

I would LOVE for a new Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde. It'd be fantastic. Gary Oldman should play Mr. Hyde.

The main thing about Frankenstein that intrigues me the most is that he is almost human. Although he is a monster, he is definetly the kindest of all the Universal Pack.

BTW...this film (if I made it) would be beyond depressing...I'm talking you would want to walk out of the theater and shoot yourself...or maybe not. I don't know...but it'd be dark, like the rest of my films.
