I was originally going to post that pic in the "no more saying 'awesome'" thread, but due to Wilhelm's special love of all things Mormon, I had to bust it out here. :)

Not to be too insensitive, but that reporter is a wuss.

or a very smart reporter who is also a LAWYER.
who is also aware that everything is on tape and can now sue the guy for a ver large ammount.

oh wait youre a card carrying NRA republican, he shouldve shot the guy.

Wth is your problem?? All I did was express my opinion about how I think most people might have handled the situation. How does that make me a "card carrying NRA republican" who would have shot the guy?

Why don't you come down off your high horse and join the discussion as a mere mortal, your honor.

Why would I do that? Its very easy to say I wouldve done that and this from behind your keyboard but when it actually happens you dont nkow how you would react.

that's the thng- you decided how most people would have reacted.

I don't agree with the NRA stuff, but when you decide stuff for 'the rest of humanity', well, expect some talkback.

Some of us who have been in many fights DO know, is my point. When you're getting your *** beat, thinking logical coherent thoughts like "I better not hit this guy back or I won't be able to sue" probably aren't running through your head. You usually operate on a strong instinct for survival. It's either fight or flight. Well, for this guy, it was obviously flight. And that comes from inexperience and not learning self-defense - not from some inner, well educated lawyer mind that says "calculate the outcome to necessitate the appropriate response".

No, I said most of humanity would have recognized that the guy was about to attack. I did NOT say that most of humanity would have fought back.

Some dudes cant fight, the world still spins.

No, but everyone can put their hands up to stifle the blows, or at least the severity of them.

right, that's what i was referring to. how do you know what most of humanity would or wouldn't recognize?

God, I disagree with lazur as much as anyone about some things but this is weird.
He said the guy was a wuss and didn't appear to even try to defend himself.
That is not some "OutRAGeous Wacko Right-Wing/Shoot-First-Ask-Questions-Later" type lazur-statement that deserves a bunch of nit-picking and microscopic analysis and refutation.

Obviously, no one does. It was a figure of speech to illustrate that the guy was sort of not thinking right by just standing there when the other guy was charging him and yelling.

SD is in the news way too much lately...well, every city has its problems...but in La Jolla...thats the ritzy part of town...thats where they've documented those stupid Sweet 16 shows...for that incident to happen in that little corner of San Diego, that was shocking in itself.

Its not, but its still inaccurate.

Something that is a matter of opinion, particularly when there is no counter "fact" to prove it wrong, is not "inaccurate". Quit with the labels and learn to agree to disagree.

I just bought this label maker though.

i dunno- i disagree. i think he fought back well enough after the attack started and i dont think it's right to expect him to have 'known' what was going to happen next. go figure.

plus what sparkle said. oh well. maybe he's smarter than the average bear.

I'd like to hear the audio. 10 bucks says the guy was yelling something threatening to him (like "I'm gonna kick your *** mother******!!"), and the guy still didn't see it coming.

Ah well, maybe he'll take some self-defense classes and the next time he decides to get in someone's face (occupational hazard of being a reporter in the first place), he'll know what to do.
