Karine Vanasse Set For Guest Arc On ABC’s ‘Revenge’
By THE DEADLINE TEAM

Karine Vanasse has been tapped for a multi-episode guest arc in the upcoming third season of ABC‘s Revenge. The Quebec-born actress will play the role of Margaux, a French businesswoman and former acquaintance of Daniel’s (Josh Bowman) who comes to town to start a magazine. She joins stars Emily VanCamp, Madeleine Stowe, Gabriel Mann, Henry Czerny and recently cast Justin Hartley. Vanasse co-starred in ABC’s Pan Am and also appeared in Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris. She’s repped by WME in the U.S., UBBA in France, and Agence M in Canada.

Just watched all of season 2 in under a week. It wasn't as strong as the first season but the finale made up for it. I was sad to see Declan go. I always liked the character and wasn't aware that he seems polarizing to the fans. I don't really read spoilers for this show so I was very pleasantly surprised at the way the season ended. Next season should be great with Jack knowing the truth about Emily and Victoria's son coming into the picture. I read that Justin Hartley was cast which I'm happy with. I can't decide if I want to watch season 3 episodes as they air or wait until next summer so I can watch them all at once. I really like watching an entire season without waiting each week.

Papa don't preach!

Ally McBeal star James LeGros has been cast on Revenge's third season, we've exclusively learned.

LeGros, who most recently appeared on HBO's hit series Girls, is set to join the ABC sudser in the recurring role of Father Paul when it returns in September. Father Paul will be introduced to viewers after Emily (Emily VanCamp) seeks him out; he also has ties to the Grayson family...never a good thing in the Hamptons!

LeGros has also appeared on Justified and Grey's Anatomy, as well as the miniseries Mildred Pierce and in films such as Point Break and Enemy of the State.

This is just the latest new casting for Revenge's third season: We exclusively reported that Smallville's Justin Hartley landed the coveted role of Victoria's (Madeleine Stowe) long-lost son Patrick, Pan Am's Karine Vanisse will play a blast from Daniel's (Josh Bowman) past and The Bible's Diogo Morgado will guest star in the season premiere.

But with new characters comes the exit of several key Revenge players, as Ashley (Ashley Madekwe) is set to exit the series this season and Declan (Connor Paolo) was killed off in the finale, while creator Mike Kelley stepped down as showrunner after season two.

Revenge returns for its third season on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. on ABC.

R.I.P. The Initiative.

ABC entertainment president Paul Lee conceded to reporters Sunday at the Television Critics Assoc. press tour in Beverly Hills that Revenge “stumbled a bit” in its mythology-heavy second season, adding that new showrunner Sunil Nayar (who replaced series creator Mike Kelley) will “bring to us a slightly less complicated” storyline in Season 3. “The first episode back is a fantastic episode starting with a magnifcent hook.”

Revenge Quadrangle Downgraded to Triangle: 'There's No Love Between Emily and
'
BY MICHAEL AUSIELLO AND KIMBERLY ROOTS

Much of Revenge‘s second season found Emily VanCamp‘s vengeance-seeking leading lady juggling three men: Daniel, Jack and Aiden. But the actress tells TVLine that pretty soon, she’ll have her hands full with just two of the hunks.

As part of ABC’s plan to streamline the drama in Season 3, which will be overseen by new showrunner Sunil Nayar, Emily Thorne’s love life is about to get a lot simpler.

“One thing that Sunil and I talked about was really defining her relationship with these men, because it got very muddled,” she reveals. “No one is going to love three men in the same way. We really needed to define: Who does Emily Thorne love?”

And that definition does not include one member of that trio.

“She’s really using Daniel,” she concedes. “It’s unfortunate. There really is not the element of love between Emily and Daniel. It’s part of her plan. Jack and Aiden are her two great loves, for very different reasons. Emily and Aiden understand each other on a totally different level than anyone could ever imagine. And yet the nostalgia and the childhood love and the purity and the wholesomeness of love with Jack is such an appeal to her, too.”

Bottom line: Though there will no longer be a three-way tie for Emily’s affections, the revengenista certainly won’t have it easy. “She’s battling these different emotions of two different men, and yet she’s marrying another one,” she says, laughing. ”It’s incredibly complicated, as always.”

And the Grayson scion’s absence from Em’s heart doesn’t guarantee that his townie rival — who in the season finale learned that Emily was really his childhood pal — will want anything to do with the duplicitous Ms. Thorne… and VanCamp can see why.

“I can say the relationship with Jack is going to be tense for a while, obviously,” the actress acknowledges. “She screwed him real bad, let’s be honest.”
Suck it, shippers. :o

So which one is it saying is going to be dropped from the quadrangle? Daniel? Or Jack?

Daniel. Which is in line with what we've seen on the series thus far. There may be a certain affection for him that has grown by portraying this relationship with him, but he is clearly a means to an end for her.

I was pretty disappointed with the way they handled Emily's mother. I do miss the episodes where they focused on Emily taking down one person at a time who was involved with the cover up. Still, I'm excited to see where they go with Jack and Emily.

Yeah, I was glad when the arc with her mom was over.

Revenge going to have a flash-forward this year? — Jane
Yes. Incoming showrunner Sunil Nayar revealed to me that that’s one tradition they definitely wanted to remain intact. And according to one castmember (coughthewonderfulGabrielManncough), the kicker of the flash-forward will reveal “the mother of all bodies.”

I hope the flashforward this season is a little more all-encompassing and exciting like the first. Last season was like "oh, look, a boat got ****ed up and there's an arm". With season one we got a real look at where the show would be somewhere down the line.

Question: I’m so excited for Season 3 of Revenge — any scoop? —Simona
Ausiello: The words “The Initiative” — aka the symbol for everything that went wrong with Season 2 — will be uttered once in the Season 3 premiere. And then NEVER. AGAIN. “Conrad sort of said in the season finale that it never really existed in the first place,” notes new showrunner Sunil Nayar. “So we’re going to embrace that reality and go forward that way.” Nayar, meanwhile, confirms that the first episode will flash forward to Emily’s wedding day, although it won’t be immediately clear if it’s Daniel she’s marrying. “You’re going to see something spectacular happen,” he teases, “and we’re going to [build toward] that in the first half of the season.”

Thank god.

Revenge: 5 Season 3 Spoilers, Including Nolan's '****ty' Turn, Victoria's 'Warped' Son and More!
BY MEGAN MASTERS

As you probably already gleaned from our recent spate of Revenge coverage, the ABC soap promises to be leaner, less complicated and a whole lot revenge-ier in Season 3 (bowing Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9/8c). And if the following five Hamptons-tinged scooplets — courtesy of stars Gabriel Mann, Madeleine Stowe and Barry Sloane — are any indication, the show appears to be on the right track.

DON’T CALL IT A REBOOT | Without specifically mentioning the aforementioned R-word, Mann notes that this year will bring Revenge “back-to-basics.” This upcoming batch of episodes are “certainly a revisiting of everything people really came to enjoy about the show in Season 1.” Calling this season more “streamlined,” Stowe notes that, “It’s going to really involve the interpersonal relationships of the characters; that’s what the show is intended to be.”

BRINGING SEXY (AND ****TY!) BACK | “Aside from his best partner-in-crime Emily — which is really the place where he holds the most love – Nolan’s not looking to get too attached,” Mann teases playfully. “So, we may see a new, ****ty phase that he’s going through.” As for the NolCorp helmer’s rarely seen former love Marco, “We haven’t seen him return yet” in Season 3, the scene-stealer shares.

LIKE MOTHER, LIKE SON? | Is Victoria’s long-lost offspring the spitting image of his devious mom? Justin Hartley’s character “is going to be interesting because he appears to be sunny and bright, but this is Revenge, so….” Stowe muses. “I have a feeling that if he comes from Victoria, there is something very warped there!” That said, the mother-son duo are enjoying “a very loving relationship” at the start of the season. (Bonus tease: “Justin’s one of the first people to get his clothes off,” Mann reveals.)

FREEBIRD | Referring to his character’s brush with the law in last season’s finale, Mann jokes, “I think a miserable season of Nolan crying in prison would really not be the path that we’re setting up.” Instead — and along similarly ****ty lines, “This [year] is everything we started to do in Season 1, with just a buttload of sex thrown on top of it — which to me was always a missing element. When you’re doing a show like this, you want to see these people get naked. You want to see them mix it up in creative ways.”

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS | Aiden is “in a place he’s not been before” when we next see him, Sloane offers. “He’s ‘in bed with the enemy’ a little bit.” The enemy being? “I have been working with Madeleine a lot,” he laughs. (With reporting by Matt Webb Mitovich)

I cant but think ABC will cancel Revenge once it hits that magical syndication number.

Unless Amanda gets something that can be considered her final revenge by that time, I'd think it would be a hard sell even for syndication, giving it a rather unsatisfying ending that people won't want to sit through everything just to not get what they've been looking forward to the entire series in the end.

That's why they should talk to abc again and set a definate end to the series ala LOST.

Goddammit, ABC, did you just spoil the whole flashforward?! :argh:

I guess if it attracts attention...

Hope Conrad at least bites it at some point. He needs to get smacked down hard.

Yes that's him, Justin's casting as Patrick was known for quite some time.

Victoria, don't look at him that way. He's your son. :o
