Rick Famuyiwa's Dope

Hmm...

Is that something that you’ve been approached about, or would be interested in?

Yes. I mean, there’s been a couple of things that have come my way that would be really interesting to do. So I’m kind of weighing and figuring it out. But yeah, I mean, look. I grew up on Spielberg and Lucas. That was sort of what inspired me to make movies. And so Back to the Future is like my one of my favorite films of all times and it’s why [the character] Dom calls Malcolm “McFly.” And so doing that, taking sort of what I think I do well and then sort of putting it on that stage, I think is something that I’d really be interested in doing.

Well there's the rumor of:

There's also a featurette that's pretty good.

I thought this was a really cool, if not a bit imperfect, of a movie.

It was really funny, the characters were nice, and the storyline was really cool and interesting to follow...up until about Malcolm's Harvard alumni "interview." Then the movie kinda dropped for me. There was still great stuff after that (Blake Anderson who I love from Workaholics and then there were some really funny moments) but it paled in comparison to the first half.

Still think this was cool. I'll be picking it up when the Blu Ray drops.

Also, I loved the cameo that connected it to a certain 90s movie starring Omar Epps, Taye Diggs, and Richard T Jones

God, I loved this movie. It's like they put Boyz n da Hood, Superbad, and Risky Business in a blender. It was funny, had likable characters, and they way the movie was edited was impressive too. It kinda dragged between the 2nd and 3rd acts, but then picked right back up.

Excellent film. It's like every black hypester rolled into one guy. That's rigjt, we all act like Malcolm. :cmad:

This movie had some suspenseful moments.

There were a few times I thought the main character was done for.

I will say it's refreshing to see a Nigerian kid as a main character who's nerdy and has non-typical interest.

As far as this director doing Black Panther, I'd trust him over most of the recent candidates. I doubt he'd do a condescending or silly version of Wakanda and BP.

I liked the movie. The second half of the film tailed off a little in my opinion but overall it was a solid flick.

I liked the retro dance moves over the end credits.

Same for me. And seeing Stacey from The Wood was :awesome:
